I just wanted to say how excited i am about starting at the university of Derby! :P
So, I haven't actually got into derby yet, but its a conditional firm, so I'm just waiting on my A-level results
But with them coming up very, very soon i am getting extremely excited! I know i shouldn't as i don't actually think i have got the grades, i feel i did really bad in my exams I only think i have about a 35-40% chance of getting in. It makes it even worse that its only Derby i am excited about, i have been there a couple of times, and each time i love it more, i cant see myself anywhere but there! I have decided that if i don't get in there, i am not going to my insurance and i wont be applying through clearance.

So, is it ok to be this excited, even though i know its not a definite thing? Should i try to hold by my excitement until i know for certain i will be going, as then if i don't get in i wont be so disappointed?

Is anyone this excited about uni, their course or Derby? If so why??

I know i feel like that too, lets just hope it is a good day for everyone
I'm finding the worst part is the waiting around! Like they get the results the week before, and you still don't know your fate, all you can do is hope its good news I really am getting so, so nervous now

So, what course will you doing there? and where will you be staying?

P.S Good luck with results day btw

So what course are you hoping to study? and what grades/ucas points do you need?
And good luck for the 16th, i hope it goes to plan for you..... well and me too :L

Re: I just wanted to say how excited i am about starting at the university of Derby!
I'm really excited too about going derby cant wait to move out of London and live in derby where everything is so much cheaper lol and seriously don't worry to much about your grades. Because i needed to get a C my English GCSE resit exam and get a DMM in my photography BETEC course.
so i got really worried about was getting my English (since i suck really bad at it) and even had actually nightmares about it lol but after i gave them my BETEC results they changed my offer to unconditional which meant i no longer needed to wait for GCSE results day which is august 23rd.
so what im trying to say is i think even if you don't get all the grades they might still let you in... hope my little story helps you guys and makes you less nervous
but good luck with your results on the 16th and look forward to seeing you all at derby freshers

Well i went to a pre-induction day in June, and the program leader actually said they would consider us and our applications, even if we don't quite meet the requirements/conditions. However i am aware that their teaching course is very, very competitive (this year they had over 1000 applicants for about 150 places!). So, i think it will depend on how many insurance people they have to take on... If lots of people miss their firm offers but meet derby's insurance offers, then i think they will get priority over the places, since they have to pay the government when they give out more places than they are allocated. so even though some of us will actually want to go there (as its our firm), insurance people may still get first priorities. Which, if you ask me is VERY annoying, but that's life i suppose :/

And thanks for wishing us luck, i personally, am going to need it!

My sister did psychology at uni She finished the degree last year (i think- a lot has happened since then :L). She really enjoyed it, so it should be good for you

I will be studying a BEd in primary education I am so excited (as you already know hehe) It requires me to get 300 points too.... And i don't know about you but i think its A LOT!

And thanks I hope to see you around in September

Why is it that we would be sarcastic?
The University of Derby is a great university and we, like many other students around the country, are looking forward to go there!

I know i think everyone in the country is going to be a nervous wreck! Its going to be very hard as well if my friends all get places and i dont, or if i get a place and others dont... I really hope everyone does well so i dont have to deal with that situation!
No track doesn't update at midnight i wish it did though And you dont even need to go on track now to find out, they have changed it so now you get an email saying if you got an unconditional Here is a link to a thread i made, it says about the new email thing . http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...8#post38825358
I know :/ I am going shopping this week so i can get some bits for uni, i am just hoping it wont be a waste of money and effort I know what you mean about getting excited! Its so hard to tell yourself you have done well, just in case you dont and it all comes crashing down!
If everything goes to plan i will be studying a BEd for Primary Education
