    Changing your mind...
Last year i was very disappointed with my English degree at Falmouth, and this year i really don't want to screw up and want to pick the right course.
I firmed an offer for English and Media Studies at leeds trinity, because i already held my grades my offer became unconditional.
However, i have been still looking at others Unis, just to avoid making the same mistake as last year.

If i was to find a course more suited to myself,
could i withdraw from my current offer i accepted and apply there directly through clearing?

I think it is really based on personal view point really.
I found some lecturers very inspiring and felt i could communicate with them, others i felt like they weren't really there through passion but more the paycheque.
Similar to teachers at schools attitudes.
Some lectures were just an old woman groaning on at the front for 2 hours, her voice so empty you couldn't even feel a tinge of motivation.
I wasn't impressed with Falmouth as a Uni in general either, there wasn't much of a student life, and i didn't feel there was very much options for extra improvement outside of lectures.
Some of my tutors still by the end of the year had no idea who i was, and others avoided there students at most times. Sometimes getting a one on one with a tutor would take 3 weeks.

However, some of my course mates, i'd say about half and half actually enjoyed the course.
But if your looking for a course thats actually passionate about English itself, DO NOT STUDY AT FALMOUTH

Yes you can. You can ask the university to release you. When you get your clearing number you will be able to contact universities in clearing.

Try contacting the people on the course you prefer first, see if there are spaces, then ask Leeds to release you. I wouldn't ask them to release you, then start looking, because then you could end up without a place.

Really you should call them up to discuss it, but if that does not suit you then I guess you have nothing to lose from emailing them. It may take a while to get a response though. You should contact them ASAP though as I believe that from Friday 10th August universities will have your results and will not discuss your application with you. So if you don't hear back quickly then you will have to call. Contact them early enough and they can change it so that they are no longer your insurance and you'll be able to go into Clearing easily should your firm reject you.

I'm considering just looking at courses that meets criteria within the Uni, as I already have a place in halls and I like Leeds itself. Can unis switch you to courses similar? (as in English with a different joint subject) if there are places in it? x

Thank you so much for your advice! Yes, I think its best to ring them, and thanks for telling me that the deadline is the 10th. Many thanks.
