    "1 Lady Owner"
Why do many garages put this, is it supposed to be a good thing?

What makes people think women are better drivers than men (not to say they aren't of course, you get both good and bad male/female drivers) but is it supposed to assure people that it wasn't a "boy racer" who owned it before?

    Thoughts?

Would you be more inclined to buy a car that had a woman owner before instead of a man (and are you male/female)?

Its because woman are generally less harsh on there car and what not usually just put in there to try and make the car look alittle better to be honest.

woman are more known to be less harsh on cars and not to rag them about so much (and also woman are not known to see how far a car goes in low gears), however i've known plenty of women that can keep up with me (i don't know why this surprises me); but having 1 lady owner is there to make the car look like its been drove good and only around towns at low speeds.

but yer i would buy a car that had woman owners over a car that had male owners.

It may be because the majority of women do not drive cars as hard as men. My old car and my GF's car is a classic case in point. My old Pug 206 got ragged everywhere whereas my GF's Micra is well looked after by her

Also women are much more better when it comes hygiene of their cars imo.

Guy's car is way more likely to be filled with a lot junk and litter.

I find it the other way around for some reason, saying that I do know some dog ruff females

People believe that women are more careful drivers, this is not necessarily the case however.

It's a bit like how insurance is cheaper for women because apparently they have less crashes than men.

I wouldn't be bothered whether the car was owned by a man or woman. As long as it was in good condition both visibly and mechanically. My car has had 3 owners, all of which were male. It's in great condition for a 14 year old car, and has never failed an MOT in its lifetime.

Just went to have a look at a car with one female owner before (22)

3 years old almost, and only serviced once lol, but the engine was fine and the overall car was impeccable. No scratches or dents or anything

I don't know what I was expecting tbh

    "How's the clutch?"
    "Don't know, never used it"

    :teehee:

    1 Lady Owner =

Kerbed alloys, car park scrapes, oil level never checked (or coolant, brake fluid etc), scratches around door handles from rings and finger nails, rarely washed, NEVER waxed, driven short distances so rarely warmed through, spent much of its life in a low gear starting and stopping, moving off and braking harshly, clutch screwed and gearbox soon to follow.

If by "lady owner" you mean my mum, then I'd be ****ing terrified.

It's a Vauxhall sure, but even so it shouldn't be such a rust bucket after 8 years. Oil leaks, nothing but cold engine runs, never washes it, countless scratches, bumps from shopping trolleys, all the trim is falling off, engine sounds rough and it has a squeaky front wheel.

From experience, they don't always start and stop in low gear; any old gear will do (usually 3rd) as long as they rev it enough.

Because women are thought to be more careful drivers I guess.

Yeah I do tend to rag my Micra around. It's the only way I feel I am getting any speed out of its 1.0 litre engine. I don't tend to go over the specified speeds for each gear, but I do push it.

My Micra was owned by an older lady owner; one that only took it to the shops and back once a week. As a result, it had only done 10,000 miles in its 8 year life.
It has now done 13,500, so around 3,500 in a year owned by myself.

I do agree though that a lot of guys do push the cars a lot more but I wouldn't say its fair to say they push them too hard. It's not really sexist to say so either.
If an engine is meant to be capable of something, you should be able to take advantage of it.

    Well that was summarised well.

If careful means 'drive slower' then yes, however, careful should also consider competency, mechanical sympathy, and care and maintenance.
