So, I feel let down by The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers are hidden!]
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Re: So, I feel let down by The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers are hidden!]Definitely... and for a spoiler you have to do [ spoiler] without the space and then to end it [/ spoiler] without the space(Original post by clumsybear)
Bane's character genuinely did creep me out though and that voice jeebus
Ah I hope he does, it'd be interesting to see how they show Blake without Bruce, if you know what I mean (sorry I can't do those spoiler things
)

Re: So, I feel let down by The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers are hidden!]£8.15? We only had to pay £2.95(Original post by mikeyd85)
Haha, no way. £8.15 is enough to pay at my local cinema, let alone mooching through to Bradford.

In guessing you've seen TDK on Bly ray? Or even TDKR at the IMAX, how does it look and sound soo good? Nolan wants to do a film entirely in IMAX but it's too loud for dialogue scenes :|(Original post by Samus2)
IMAX really was amazing for hearing Bane. His voice did give me chills!
Spoiler:ShowI think I read it on this thread, Robin becomes nighthawk? But John Blake will the new batman... (I want to see more Batman/Nolan but is the story finished?
Do you think there might be a DC style avengers? With the new batman/ robin/ nighthawk superman?

It was beautiful!
I'm still mesmerized by Hathaway as Selina and after seeing the new trailer for Les Miserables, I've got so much more respect for her as an actress. Asides from the fact she's beautiful, she's amazing. I hope she wins an award for it.
Spoiler:ShowDick Grayson was the original Robin and he then became Nightwing. As far as I'm aware, Nolan's said he won't do anymore Batman films... he is however coming out with Man of Steel - a Superman film which should be great!
It'd be good to see a Justice League film, I would actually really enjoy it!
As far as I'm aware, the audience can see the ending one of two ways. Blake becomes Batman because the idea of Batman is that, he's a symbol for justice
OR he could become Robin as an homage to Bruce...
I think Nolan left it open for another film, but, who knows. Batman was only meant to be a trilogy though... -

This was posted from The Student Room's iPhone/iPad AppSpoiler:ShowNightwing* and I don't think he will be the new Batman. It's either setting up for a Robin/Nightwing film(s) or just ending the Batman series with a bit of a tease. You mean Justice League I believe, I don't think DC will go that way but its possible
Really? I couldn't tell half of what Bane was saying...and I felt that although the film was good, in my opinion it was the worst film of all three due to a fair bit which was left unexplained/some flaws with the plot etc, the pace of the storytelling and the lack of 'wow' after all the hype. And i paid £12 to see it! Cinemas are getting too expensive

[spoiler]The plane scene with Bane, the over head shots of the plane (it was IMAX and quite early) I felt a bit dizzy/ weird :L(Original post by Samus2)

I can't go back to normal cinema now, the audio and video was soo good, but I can't get £20 and a ride to London just for a film :|
The trilogy is complete, I want another film but I don't at the same the time..

I agree with it being the worst out of the three, but just by the tiniest amount.(Original post by Falcon91)

He just had too many characters and too much going on
[spoiler]Read somewhere and I grew with this, imagine if Dagget/ Talia where in TDK, or in some way we knew about them... About how Dagget wants the company...
Then with the Talia twist it might have been more?
And there's just something about TDK, there's Heath ledger (best performance I've seen) but the plot and the pace everything was just perfect, I think it might have set tte bar too high..

Re: So, I feel let down by The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers are hidden!]
When I first watched it, I knew that it was good, brilliant even, but it wasn't how I thought it would be, and I felt let down. So what I did was I watched the first two films again, and then I rewatched Rises, and I figured it out. It's because the third film is too much like the first one.
Dark Knight was an amazing, epic peace of art, and is definitely the best of the trilogy, but it did it's own thing and didn't really try to follow the main story of Batman Begins - that Illuminati-style order trying to bring down Gotham. In turn, BB, while good, wasn't great. Rises actually finished what BB started and was very stylistically similar to the film. I think I was expecting Rises to be a DK but rather it turned out as a BB. There were other issues as well (I really would've preferred it if Robin wasn't introduced at the last minute, you know?), but that was the main problem: the trilogy went from a style and story that wasn't amazingly successful, to a style that was totally badass, only to return to the first style to wrap it all up.
But Catwoman was great, and so was Bane. Bane's always been a personal favourite character of mine because he broke the bat in the comics, and the scene in the film where he does exactly that was amazing. -
The absolute highlight of the film, though, how on Earth did he survive?(Original post by Samus2)
I did really enjoy the character of Blake though. I think he was a great addition -
Re: So, I feel let down by The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers are hidden!]
I did really enjoy the film but after thinking about it a bit, some parts started to bug me such as...
Spoiler:ShowThe development of Bane as a character. He was a fantastic villain and it had been heavily hinted that he was the child who escaped from the Pit and evil incarnate etc. just for him to then be devalued to a henchman for the sake of the Talia plot twist and then killed off in a pretty rubbish manner. Just seemed a bit of a cop out to spend the majority of the film building up Bane as the main antagonist just to then introduce Talia as the baddie, who had been a pretty minor character up until now.
Secondly, I don't really buy her intention of "carrying on her fathers work." Ok, so we know al Ghul abandoned her mother, she had a pretty crap time in prison and had her only protector ex-communicated from the League of Shadows. It's a pretty big leap from not forgiving him for all that yet still loving him enough to carry out his work. And it would only have been believable had we been shown more than the negative side to that relationship once we knew who Talia really was.
Probably seems like I'm nitpicking but they seemed to be pretty weak parts of the plot to me... -
Re: So, I feel let down by The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers are hidden!]Not that hes incorruptable but that its too easy. Batman uses many of the tools his enemies do - fear, terror, intimidation, high tech gadgetry and violence. If he crosses the line then he stops fighting them and becomes them.(Original post by Astronomical)
Batman wouldn't have killed Bane. Batman doesn't kill; he didn't kill Ra's Al Gul in BB, he didn't kill the Joker in TDK and he wouldn't have killed Bane, had the chance arisen, in TDKR. As the Joker put it in TDK, Batman was "incorruptible".
Having said that, I do feel Bane's death was awfully done. It got far too little screen time; I wouldn't have minded Catwoman getting the kill, but death of the main antagonist surely needed more than sub-1-second of screen time.
But agreed on Banes death - too much like "wait Banes still alive quick kill him" without thought or reason (that being said we dont actually know that he was killed by the shot)
You didnt see that it was Talia Al Gul from about an hour into the film when they slept together?(Original post by Chumbaniya)
I thought it was excellent until the last half hour or so, where it fell a bit flat. The reveal of Talia towards the end felt really meaningless because it seemed to come from nowhere and Bane had until that point been a strong leading antagonist in his own right, and nothing was really done with that. The ending sequence was pretty uninspired (a big fight and getting rid of a bomb at the last second, without much of an emotional core to it to raise it above the level of a generic action plot).
I liked it but more for the comic nods than anything. Bane is the one who does the most damage to Batman (well aside from Batmans death at the hands of darkseid) Bane does break Batmans back, Talia and Bruce do sleep together (there son eventually becomes batman) and Selina Kyle was amazing (what i wouldnt give to have been that Tumbler when she mounted it in that catsuit - phwar. I really thought Hathaway did a fantastic job
Overall i thought it was - ok - too many plot holes for me to really enjoy -
Re: So, I feel let down by The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers are hidden!]
Watched it again yesterday, this time in Traditional IMAX - it was an incredible experience. It's a shame that this film is going to get overlooked for an Oscar because they don't rate film's that come from comic books, bunch of snobs really. They need to realise that the main inspiration behind this film was A Tale Of Two Cities by Dickens (classic literature) - and TDKR is based around all of the themes highlighted by Dickens himself. By the way, did anyone spot Batman jumping into the sea at the end? I did, but found it weird as the explosion had already happened and you see him randomly falling out of the sky (yet another plot hole, Nolan should have corrected these). All in all, I'd rate BB 8/10, TDKR 8.5/10 and TDK 9/10 purely because of the unbelievable performance that Heath Ledger gave as The Joker.
