He wouldn't be able to act the way he does now as PM, with the International community having their eye/media on him etc -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
Top bloke, but I wouldn't want him as our PM. He has, over the years, made a number of blunders which I think show a lack of judgment on his behalf. Everything which makes him great now would make him a bad PM.
He is popular now because of the Olympics. Come the next election - when the country will be dealing with further cutbacks, the Tories will need a serious candidate to support the party through an election in which they will undoubtedly be very unpopular with a large number of people. This person is not Boris - who once called a £250,000 salary "chicken feed" and is famous for making a fool of himself.
As I said though - lovely bloke. -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
I'm sort of a bit scared of putting him as Prime Minister because his charm and what we love about would get killed the moment he, or the government, does something yet again controversial. Sooner or later he'd get hated simply by being Prime Minister. I'd rather he was our President/head of state.

Yes. Who wouldn't want him as their MP? -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
I think Boris gets overhyped.
People talk about his "great popularity" but he wasn't that far ahead of Ken Livingstone in the London mayor election, and Livingstone is hardly a bastion of popularity.
The lefties won't vote for him because he is too chummy with the bankers and the traditional Tory right will balk at some of his liberal views on immigration and the minimum wage.
Not saying he has no chance but I don't think when it comes down to it he will be this unity figure people claim. -

Berlusconi. -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?Does the aforementioned have any significance on his suitability as PM(Original post by blu tack)
God no.
People see his adorable buffoonery and forget that he's an old Etonian, Oxfordian, toff bigot in the same mould as Cameron and Osborne.

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?Finally something sensible. Are you lot seriously saying you'll ignore the fact that the man is a traditionalsit Conservative, a former Etonian and bullingdon club member, and a racist who thinks he can hide his reactionary views behind buffoonery.(Original post by blu tack)
God no.
People see his adorable buffoonery and forget that he's an old Etonian, Oxfordian, toff bigot in the same mould as Cameron and Osborne. And yet more gaffe prone.
Please God, no.
He's somehow managed to distance himself from the Tory image by masquerading as a clown. -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?Condemning someone for being prejudiced, whilst prejudging them for where they came from themselves. Classic.(Original post by MrFlash1994)

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?Oh, I see your point(Original post by blu tack)
Not necessarily, but it does indicate his privileged background, which could certainly influence his politics.
I think people are far too quick to hold his education against him when in fact he earnt his scholarship to Eton, not like Dave

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
No thanks. Whilst he is certainly charismatic, and has the ability to unite people, both desirable characteristics in a Prime Minister (traits that, unfortunately, Gordon Brown didn't posses), I don't think that Boris is the right person to lead the nation because of his party's policies - One man doesn't, and won't, change what is a party that doesn't have Britain's best interests at heart.

Then he went on to join the Bullingdon Club, so I don't think he quite dragged himself up from the bottom, mind. -

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?hes a typical tory, look at his views and background, and if boris is pm it means the tories are in again, which is the worst thing that can happen to this country(Original post by Snagprophet)
