Because not everything fits properly e.g. black overrepresentation in nba. Also, Oxbridge is 50-50 state and private then maybe more from private aspire to be politician, possibly better leaders.(Original post by alex5455)
thanks, so 15 years ago, why is it so rare and infrequent we end up with a pm from a "normal" background, rather than millionaires and billionaires? -
Loooooooooooooooooooooooooool(Original post by barnetlad)
If I wanted a comedian as PM I'd vote for Jimmy Carr or Michael McIntyre.

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
Electorally speaking Yes he can. I fear however he is PR rather than substance. I would much prefer Boris taking over from Cameron than Osbourne though... It's sad but.. He is the best chance the Tories have of getting a majority or (at least in my ever increasing pessimism regarding the coalition) a minority government. Although despite **** going to creek early this year Boris still pulled off the Mayoral election. He definitely appeals to the electorate and unlike Cameron he isn't ashamed of his background. He makes out it's not his fault he was born privileged but to the ordinary voter who doesn't take interest in Politics. He appears like a nice guy who makes you laugh compared to the damp rug (Milliband). I think a Boris government would be interesting and the best outcome. Labour... I shudder about the thought. I will never forget 2008 recession and me questioning why? why? why? how? how? how? when? when? when? That global crisis got me interested in Poltics
. I'll never forget myself.. a 14 year old going into town to do some shopping with pocket money my parents gave me on a monthly basis and meeting a person who lost their job, his name was chris. I was very frustrated that day and have not been able to stop reading the news since. I'm hopefully studying Politics at Uni too

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
I really dislike Boris Johnson.. Mainly because people seem to think " His hair is really funny, coz he rides a bike, and this one time he was on 'Have I got news for you' and he was soooo funny, and he's just rather silly isn't he?" and this is a good enough reason to make him PM.
Yeah hilarious. That's what we need, another idiot.
It's not just that which annoys me about Boris, it's the fact that he's still chums with Rupert Murdoch, so much so, that he invited Murdoch as his "special guest" to the Olympic swimming finals. He was quoted saying that he thought that phone hacking was "codswallop" - what?!
But unfortunately I think that he will probably become PM.. because people like a personality. Even a crap personality. -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
Although I am a Labour supporter, I wouldn't mind Boris as our Prime Minister. He is a bit of a baffon, but at least he is true to his conservative background and doesn't try denying it. Just doubt he has the political experience to bring in decent policy. I rather see him as a last resort type of guy during a national crises, a bit like Churchill but less gutsy.

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
This poll is depressing me. To think that this buffoon got elected as Mayor of London, let alone is being taken seriously as a potential Prime Minister is quite frankly, disappointing.
People always look back on past PMs and say they were "rubbish", well if this is what the general public have in mind for someone better then the pool of candidates must be pretty shallow. -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
I think that if Boris were to run for PM as the Tories' man, they'd win outright. I fear he may not be conservative enough to represent my views, but then when is UKIP going to stand a realistic chance? But that aside, he has the charisma to pull in voters who normally cower at the idea of Toryism. It's quite brilliant.

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?Not to mention people are putting their entire county's faith which affects their lives in the hands of someone just because they think he is funny/awesome/weird ... what a crap reason, honestly.(Original post by KentaKobashi)

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?
I swear I used to think he was a comedian a couple years ago. I had heard of him and seen his face a couple times with the messy blond hair so I thought he must be an entertainer of some sort. Then I heard he was running for Mayor of London and I just thought it was one of those publicity things like when P Diddy ran for President. Then he won and I found out that he was a serious politician this whole time
and he then turns out to be a pretty good mayor! Goes to show that you should never judge a book by it's cover. Politicians need character like Boris has.

Re: Boris Johnson for PM?well what is the alternative then?(Original post by Dorito)
If he was made PM I'd be on the first plane out of here.
He is an absolutely ****. He is an embarrassment and I really don't know why people are drawn in by his cringeworthy and manufactured buffoon image. It's all a show, he's just another posh Tory boy that would do nothing of any great worth for the country if elected PM. -
Re: Boris Johnson for PM?you will be waiting a long time for that then(Original post by alex5455)
he is a white eton/oxbridge guy, like the current fool in power whos determined to destroy our country and ruin the economy, we need a normal person from a normal background in power -
