Surviving the Wilderness - 2
Has anybody else been watching the series?
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgwy-...ure=plpp_video
Basically a computer programmer trying to survive in the wilderness for as long as possible with lots of camera gear, a knife and some rope.
I found it pretty amazing, especially when he was talking to the camera as you could really see his emotional stress and the things he was going through due to starvation and thirst and the impact it was having on him.
Pretty amazing overall, any thoughts?
Yes he is alive, otherwise he wouldn't have uploaded the videos. This originated when his friend did it originally for a bet ($100 for every day survived), thinking it would be easy, and lasted 8 days. -
Re: Surviving the Wilderness - 2
I must admit I would absolutely love to do something like this with somebody else. I always love the idea of having to build a temporary shelter and fight to survive. I wouldn't fancy eating all sorts of insects though :/ eurgh no.
Going to watch this guys video now anyway
Atm I just love watch Bear Grylls aha.

Re: Surviving the Wilderness - 2Bear Grylls is a fake, he stays in motels, cleans himself, shaves etc. His crew also films 'night' scenes using the nightvision mode on a camera in broad daylight. Once he also had a professional build a contraption to sleep it and take it apart so Grylls could reassemble it on TV.(Original post by AndyJay123)

Some of his tips are good but none of his videos truly show how hard it is with physical destruction over time and emotional torment.
If you want to watch someone good look up 'Survivorman' on youtube. A guy called Les Stroud did 3 series I believe but he had to quit in the end because he was essentially on the brink of starvation every time he did it (A week per episode, 8 episodes a series...) and it just took too great a toll on his body.
Also when you watch the guys videos, be sure to look out for the part when he says 'you have to squeeze the poop out before you eat it', friggin hilarious. -
Re: Surviving the Wilderness - 2I read stuff about him being fake a while back but I never knew they did that about night vision :/ that sucks hmm. Ah well I still love watching it(Original post by cyfer)

Going to look up that stuff on YouTube so thank you! -
Re: Surviving the Wilderness - 2Just take care before trying it yourself(Original post by AndyJay123)

Re: Surviving the Wilderness - 2I wouldn't do it myself though. I'd only do it with somebody I could trust. I don't plan on doing it tbh but if I was given the chance I probably would(Original post by cyfer)

Re: Surviving the Wilderness - 2he still does loads of hardcore stuff, whether he sleeps in a hotel or not.(Original post by cyfer)

Re: Surviving the Wilderness - 2That is a matter of opinion.(Original post by SnoochToTheBooch)

I believe that suffering severe emotional stress and starvation combined with deprivation of your basic needs in complete solitude is far more 'hardcore' than jumping off a ledge knowing you have 4 safety ropes attaches an emergency helicopter 2 minutes away, not to mention a crew of 5 people one of which is a qualified doctor.
