Bert Bushnell/Dickie Burnell:
"Dickie decided we should lose the first heat so as not to meet the Danes [Ebbe Parsner and Aage Larsen] in the semi-final," Bushnell said. "I wouldn't have had the nerve to do that. We could have won, but we didn't, and came into the semis through the repechage, avoiding the Danes."
