Connecting to wireless help please!
Can someone please help me connect me new laptop to my wireless internet? It has windows 7. I have a wireless router, which has loads of numbers and letters on. I have never connected to it wirelessly before, but other people have in my house. The laptop knows it has a signal, and tells me the router name sometimes, but when i search for wireless devices, its not finding it, and im right next to the router! HELP please! thank you.

Done it!
Also, make sure the router is password protected (at the very least) and not the default password it first came with.Last edited by Final Fantasy; 02-08-2012 at 14:26. -

Ive had the router for over a year, and live half a mile from the nearest house in the middle of nowhere, so do I need to password protect it now?

Re: Connecting to wireless help please! There's a few types of fraud/scams that involve searching for properties like yours for an unprotected WiFi access point. I'm not saying it'll ever happen to you, but it does happen and you're better off safe than sorry.(Original post by petparadise123)

There should be plenty of instructions on password protecting your router and connection via Google. Please do it, it only takes 2 minutes and adds a decent layer of security.
