Self Conscience
How do I become less self conscience?
It's getting worse- I constantly worry about how I look, smell or 'feel'.
I won't go into a long description of how bad I am, cause that's not really important. Let's just say I don't like people touching me and I don't go in the pool on holiday cause I have to take my shirt off.
I constantly worry about what people think of me to the point where I keep trying to do stuff that other people do because they look normal when they do it.
Any tips? -
Re: Self Conscience
I'm guessing you're a teenager; the brain at such a stage is programmed to be more self-conscious than in later years, so to some extent it's an issue that will diminish with age. But I know how ridiculous that advice will sound to you. Hell, you want a solution now. Well, you can either just remind yourself that there's no reason on earth why you should give two hoots about what anyone thinks of you (really, why does it matter if that girl thinks you're fat, or that bloke thinks you're stupid, or posh, or whatever) it simply makes no difference to your life. If, on the other hand, you want to actively increase your confidence until this kind of reaction is natural, all I can suggest is just to keep pushing your own boundaries and developing as a person; if you're scared of heights go skydive; if you think yourself unfit, go run a marathon; if you're intimidated by social interaction greet everyone you pass in the street, or make small-talk about the weather. Self-consciousness is just a product of a little voice inside your head telling you that you can't do this or mustn't do that, and the only way to beat that voice and to develop and grow is to go and show it who's leading who. So chin up, I'm sure you're wonderful, now stop worrying and go live your life.
