Top universities for mechanical engineering?
Hello I am applying for mechanical engineering in 2013 and I need to know which universities are good for mechanical engineering.
Could you please give me a list from tope tier to lower tier unis, so I could see which to firm and which to choose as insurance, thank you very much. -
Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?Thank you, I heard manchester is a good uni for mechanical engineeing too, is it true?(Original post by nathgooner)
Imperial
Southampton
Ucl
Oxford
Warwick
Queen Mary
In no particular order -
Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?Bristol and Sheffield are also very good for Mech eng(Original post by nsolma1)

Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?Cambridge supposedly have a good engineering course as you specialise later on, thus providing a more rounded engineering background. I'd also imagine Oxford, Imperial, UCL, Warwick and the other usual suspects have good courses, but I'd just be guessing, really.(Original post by nsolma1)

Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering? Why advise, if you are guessing? Don't apply oxford, its not that great.(Original post by Astronomical)

Never fully trust league tables however. This is just an overview

Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?Exactly! I appreciate you guys giving me advice, but im not exactle oxbridge material, neither imperial, maybe kings college. But yeh i messed up AS a bit becuz of the gap from gcse to a levels, i procrastrinated so much and I wish i had done it all differently.(Original post by Theafricanlegend)
Why advise, if you are guessing? Don't apply oxford, its not that great.
So i want to be realistic about which universities to study at, if all else fails I will retake my AS year and apply to higher tier unis, but even that is risky, what if I get rejected then?
So yeh i want to play it safe for now, so please people dont come with oxbridge suggestions, even imperial is too high.
I think my predicted grades will be most likely ABB, if im lucky AAB.
Im so nervous about my predicted grades now

Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?I didn't ay it was. I said it is probably good; are you saying it isn't at least good?(Original post by Theafricanlegend)

Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?Yes, it specializes in arts, if you want sciences and engineering might as well go cambridge (if you are that good and have over 90 percent ums)(Original post by Boy_wonder_95)
Oxford aint great!? :O -
Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering? Its alright I guess. It never ranks highly in any rankings (engineering wise). If I was an employer I would take a graduate from imperial. Their course is called engineering science, as it is very general and that also might be a drawback.(Original post by Astronomical)

Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?bad joke(Original post by + polarity -)
Queen Mary... who's that?

Re: Top universities for mechanical engineering?Yes, yes you are.(Original post by + polarity -)
I'm the worst.
