    Student Flat - 4 people, one source for rent.
    Hi,

    I move into my new student house on Saturday.
    The estate agent have said that our rent has to be paid out from one single source as the landlord manages lots of property and cannot go chasing people.

    I'd like advice on the best course of action - we have talked about setting up a joint account but I'm a bit wary of this in case it messes with my credit rating or we run into issues. Is there any other way we can get round this?

    Set up direct debit from one of your accounts and the rest pay into it? Obviously it will take some trust from all of you.

    ooooh I've heard bad stories about this.

    How some people get loaded with another persons rent due to contract rules. Be very wary about this.

    Everyone gives you the money, or everyone gives someone the money, hand it in cash to the guy...

    I must say it's very hard to do that, takes a lot of planning and time...

    Sounds very shady to me. He doesn't sound like a good landlord if he's going to make that excuse.

    Estate agent has told us this not the landlord.
