Re: Speaker Election IINo it isnt. The whole point of the guidance document was to allow the speaker to use his or her own discretion.(Original post by Morgsie)
The role of the Speaker is to adhere to the Constitution and Guidance Document, not ignoring those Documents. Interpretation is another element in this point -
Re: Speaker Election IIDo you enjoy looking for any reason to stamp your feet and whine?(Original post by internetguru)
Yeah and I am not criticizing the actions by the speaker I am criticizing the guidance document. -
Re: Speaker Election III look for problems and fix them. Unlike some individuals and parties that prefer to look for stuff and break them.(Original post by thunder_chunky)
Do you enjoy looking for any reason to stamp your feet and whine? -
Re: Speaker Election IICould do, but I want to see it out properly!(Original post by Matthew_Lowson)
Can't you declare your resignation to be effective immediately? Allowing TCIT to run the election?
If people keep voting RON, we could see how anarchy plays out here. Or just get Aaran to run things, both are good!

Re: Speaker Election IIThanks.(Original post by Birchington)
Good luck Toronto!
Thanks.
I agree, but let me quote the opening sentence of the Guidance Document:(Original post by Morgsie)

Of course the Speaker shouldn't ignore it, but they should use it as a source of advice for how to deal with certain issues. The Guidance Document, for instance, doesn't set out what should happen in the JPKC case, but nor does it allow the Speaker to take a specific course of action. In that case, Nick was right to diverge from the Guidance Document altogether. The Guidance Document is not exhaustive, but gives an idea of how things should be run. This Guiding Document is a suggestion of how things should be conducted, which is not binding on the Speaker, except where specifically referred to by the Constitution.
I tried. You can't blame me.

Could do, but I want to see it out properly!

Re: Speaker Election IIThanks. Although don't say the bold as you might jinx my bid.(Original post by meenu89)

Re: Speaker Election IIThanks.(Original post by xXedixXx)
Of course.
Hopefully the campaign is a little more positive and about candidates and not the process itself.

Re: Speaker Election IIYou ran in the Deputy Speaker election which daniel_williams eventually won back in August 2010. We had quite a large field of candidates for that election, including paddy! The following Deputy Speaker election wasn't as hotly contested as it was just TCIT and toronto. Then no elections for 18 months and now here we are!(Original post by paperclip)
I recall running before, possibly against metrobeans. Currently unsure of whether i should go for it
I do have a tendency to regularly disappear for weekends at a time, so perhaps my social life is too busy for it... -
Re: Speaker Election IIDid I run for the deputy Speaker election? I don't remember doing so.(Original post by Metrobeans)
