Yes I do. And No, I find that vision only deteriorates if you have an inaccurate prescription, or if you wear reading glasses when you're not looking in the appropriate distance. In fact, I'm all against reading glasses. Or if you have a medical condition such as Diabetes.

What usually happens is that people take reading prescription glasses and end up using them for things like computer. Reading prescription is built for 35 cm distance and average computer distance is 50 cm. Your eyes end up having to stretch and work in order to adjust to the computer distance, and they lose calibration.

On the other hand, when someone asks for "Distance" glasses, they're actually given a corrective prescription, which will only help recalibrate the sphere/cylinder. It's much healthier and more stable.
Oh right, how did people react when you started wearing them?

Would you vision deteriorate if you were to wear your glasses for close up stuff, like reading a book?

Yeah :/ I can't get laser surgery cause your eyes have to be a constant prescription for 2 years I think it is, and mine get worse every six months on the dot.

Sometimes it's only a .25 change, but when your eyesight is so weak it makes a huge difference. And I don't get free glasses anymore either, they are so expensive!
Well, i have a website which does do prescriptions to -12.50, pretty cheap only £12.99 per month but theyre the soft ones
and ah! maybe when your eyesight stabilizes you can consider it

As someone who has never had to where them, I can't see why you wouldn't want to wear them. I'd much rather wear glasses than stick contacts into my eyes!

There are plenty of glasses that look great on both guys and girls, just a shame the prices are so astronomical.

They've almost become a fashion item, but I think people wearing them with 'clear' lenses, with perfectly good sight, is a little difficult to understand.

Apparently it's 'cool' to wear glasses... Oh how I wish it were cool when I first started wearing them

    ever considered eye surgery?
Yes, but I don't know if I'd go for it, mainly because of the risks. Going blind is very rare, but there are other risks like getting halos around lights. To be completely honest, I need to research it more, but for the meantime I won't be getting it. I don't have the money to anyway. Is it something you'd consider?

I don't actually mind wearing glasses too much, apart from when it's raining or when you go indoors and they steam up.

ahh, thats true. is quite expensive your right, but worth it if its long term and you wont have to wear glasses again! but again, i don't have the money either and i dont think my eyesight has stablized but maybe in the future.

Haha, we spend so much money on glasses/contacts anyway that the cost may make itself up over the years.

Depends which ones I'm wearing. I have a slim ted baker pair that make me look more intelligent which I wear to work and such, and I've got the Wayfarers that are a bit more casual. So I guess it depends what frame you've got/what the people around you are like.

No, provided you've got a correct prescription. And that you're using them at the correct distance. E.g. if the optician says that your glasses are for reading, don't try and use them for computer. And vice versa. If you want computer glasses, ask for "Intermediate vision". They have a weaker Added power than a reading prescription.

It definitely wasn't either of those things.

Put simply - lazy eye occurs when one side of the vision centre in the brain switches off for no good reason (its an abberation of the natural ability of the brain to switch off vision from the least dominant side when the info coming in from both eyes doesn't match - eg it can happen if one eye has a slight squint or is more shortsighted than the other).

If it remains switched off for too long, it subsequently fails to develop properly. Without the visual feedback from the brain, the affected eye wanders.

Sadly, it can be easily treated by putting a patch over the non-lazy eye, and correcting the original cause of the mismatch - but not once it's too late. Nevertheless, even if it is too late, surgery can be used to fix the "lazy" eye in a better position.

Vaccines are great. You are way, way, way more likely to die or suffer horrendous brain injury (look up subacute sclerosing panencephalitis) from the diseases that they protect you against, than you are from a vaccine, which are amongst the safest therapeutics in use. People just forget this because droves of children (the main victims) don't routinely die or get disabled by horrendous diseases like measles, mumps, diptheria, rubella, polio, etc anymore. You know why? That's thanks to vaccines.
Firstly, I wore an eye patch for a long time when I was little but that didnt help at all. My left eye is very blury compared to my right even without glasses, though I never wear them anyway, I also forgot to say that I nearly died after my vaccine, giving a vaccine to a baby who has no immune system (I wasnt breastfed) is not really a good idea now is it? If you say that vaccines help then why is it that everyone elderly in my family have no allergies what so ever and look as healthy as can be. There are people in my family 90+ years of age and guess what? They have never been sweriously ill nor ever had a vaccine. I think its complete crap that Im forced to have them. Its my life, if I want to 'risk' somehow dying of god knows what the hell they vaccinate against then I take that risk. I used to be the same as everyone else, I used to believe that vaccines do what they are 'supposed' to. Its not until my Dad persuaded me after a very long time that I realise they arent what they are and I will never be having one again and if I do have to have one by law, I will fight against it. They are also banning herbs and home remedies which act as a natural cures to illnesses obviously because they 'challenge' the medecine industry although they say its because the natural cures are 'bad' for your health haha. This is just my opinion though so you can think what you want but my opinion wont change.

As you get older your eyes deteriorate and you are more likely to need glasses. Also people spending more time indoors and in front of screens all day is contributing to bad eyesight such as myopia.

Do you mean the geek ones? If so I wouldnt recommend it, the geek frames are a fashion trend and once it fades you will be stuck with 'unfashionble glasses'

It's quite pricey and the cost depends on the extent of the procedure. Not very sure but I think Vision Express give Free Consultations/Quotations.

Some providers have finance options. Optical Express for example: http://www.opticalexpress.co.uk/lase...e-options.html

Accuvision have 0% finance but I don't know much about them so I can't recommend.

    More fashionable.

    More readily available.

People spending more time than ever treating their eyes badly.

I also remember reading that (bit ironic) wearing glasses/contacts is actually bad for your eyesight. So, more people are able to get them as kids, they get them, and then their eyesight deteriorates more rapidly than it otherwise would meaning that by the time they're adults they end up relying upon glasses.

    Owned.

Ah ok so what did work colleagues/friends say when you starting wearing them?

I meant, if your optician prescribes you glasses for distance and you use them for reading as well, would your eyes deteriorate further?

My eyesight is perfect according to my optician, yet I need glasses to see long range i.e. (simple objects like buildings at 140cm) & (words on a whiteboard or monitor at 45cm). I suppose diabetics are affected because when sugar mixes with water in your eyes because they are filled with water, it makes the water clouded with sugar (chemistry students should know this) thus making your eyesight limited, my solution to this problem would be take in lots of water and keep blood sugars down and you won't require glasses to see far, or short distance.

I learnt that eye strain you develop from using your monitor or watching TV or cinema is not linked to the reason why people wear glasses, for some people it's just in your genes.

Forgot to add that squinting at something to cause your eyes to adjust better to what you want to see can be bad for your eyes and possibly make them worse, don't ask me how.
