Would you recommend not wearing glasses for a medical interview?
I wear glasses and feel quite geeky in them. I've sometimes wondered what other people's first impression must be of me, and am weary about giving an ''all work and no play'' impression based on looks. Just so you have an image in your head, some people have said I look like Tamwar from Eastenders.

So would you recommend I wear contacts instead?

No. Wear glasses if that's what you normally do.

I didn't wear mine for my vet med interviews, but I thought that if the interviewers' faces were blurred I'd feel less nervous haha.

But in all seriousness, they won't judge you based on if you wear glasses or not. If you feel more comfortable with them, keep them on, if not, take them off.

If you wear glasses as a doctor you'll be able to do the thing where you have a moment of revelation, remove them then exposit straight to camera. (advice possibly based on Casualty. Not necessarily good life advice)

I'm a graduate applicant and noticed a lot of fit medical students whilst at my first university. This made me wonder whether you're more likely to get an offer if you look ''attractive''. Obviously this is at their discretion.

Ha yeh, whilst in a moment of thinking remove your glasses, cross your arm and place the tip in your mouth whilst staring at the floor.

If you wear glasses you will never ever become a doctor.

Comfort / comfort / comfort. Regular specs wearers who take them can get a bit of a stary ' unfocused' look which can be a tiny bit disconcerting.

Don't worry i was thinking the exact same thing. But i wore mine and don't regret it because i wanted to see the interviewer, and you see their facial expressions which i think is very important. I would wear them, but if your worried get contacts.

While I must admit to not knowing much about the medicine admissions process, it does seem rather unlikely that wearing glasses would affect your chances.

I think the first 30 seconds after entering the room and the way you look would play a big part in how enthusiastic the interviewers may be about you.

“What is this I don’t even” is a popular catchphrase used on message boards in response to a post so shocking or stupid that you’re left absolutely speechless

It's hardly shocking or stupid. Get of your high horse and don't bother opening and posting in this thread.

It's incredibly obvious. Wearing glasses in itself wont affect your chances, youre not applying to be a model jesus.

Overall you should wear what you feel most comfortable wearing - if you have contact lenses you could wear those instead. You could choose to not wear glasses but if your eyesight is poor enough then that'll be more of a problem in the interview than any aesthetic concerns you may have.

    This really is basic stuff.

Excuse me for not knowing exactly your eyesight level. Nor did I assume you would.
