I've seen some of your posts on this site; you're really annoying.
I'm aware that you're a similarly hate-filled individual that once claimed people should not be allowed to breed without passing an intelligence test. It doesn't surprise me at all that you are a formerly helpful_c sympathiser, or indeed that you would appear here, in a thread designed solely to make shallow, divisive judgements about people the OP feels he has a right to look down his nose at. I suspect you haven't actually followed his recent behaviour, but anyways I suspect you'd completely overlook his inability to back up any of his claims or engage in debate, in favour of rallying behind his similarly despicable opinions.Last edited by Mister Dead; 03-08-2012 at 12:11. -

It's a class thing. The defining characteristics is something vague to do with clothing, and most importantly being poor/on benefits.Last edited by simoncino; 03-08-2012 at 12:21. -

Re: Would chavs still be chavs if they wore nice clothes?adidas track bottoms, baseball cap, dirty trainers.
Chewing gum, hands down their pants, making silly noises, ogling at any female that walks past, spitting, drinking cider...

Re: Would chavs still be chavs if they wore nice clothes?
no because part of being a chav is the style too, it is like asking would an emo still be an emo if they wore nice clothes. you can get people that ACT like emos/chavs that don't wear the style typical of the stereotype but because they don't dress like them you can't call them an emo/chav even if they behave like one.

You already get chavs wearing "nice" clothes, the Adidas tracksuit was the thing of 2007 but nowadays it's all about the Hollister shirt, tan Chinos and those horrible black Superdry coats. Its kind of a middle class chav, mummy and daddy buys them branded clothes, but underneath you still have the dregs of society. Where I'm from at least, the traditional chav is now a much rarer species.
they aren't chavs. i don't get all the hate about these things by the way, chinos can look nice if they fit correctly and hollister has some nice clothes. not sure why people are so stupid as to make them all negative.
and no chav where i live would wear those things and no one who wears this kind of clothing would ever be called a chav. -

Re: Would chavs still be chavs if they wore nice clothes?A chav isn't about the clothes its about their swearing attitude, bad behavoir in school and general gangster like attitude and what is wrong with hoodies, track suit bottoms and addidas all these clothes are good clothes to wear what else should they wear?-jeans(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)
As we all know, chavs tend to wear track suit bottoms, shell suits, jogging bottoms, branded hoodies and trainers e.g. Nike, Adidas and Gola. Now, I know that Nike and Adidas make nice trainers - I, personally, own a pair of subtle hi-tops. So, don't think of this as a "class" issue.
However, if a chav were to wear nice clothing - the definition is whatever you want it to be - would they still be a chav? If so, why? If not, why?

Ever so sorry that mine doesn't match the opinion of high and mighty you! -

Just look at Tulisa from ndubz, no matter how fancy she dresses or is made up, she still looks like a chav. -
Re: Would chavs still be chavs if they wore nice clothes?what age are you living in?(Original post by Menakshelatte)
yes. beacus it's about their character.
I mean imagine someone like diana wearing "chav" clothes, she would still look nice. -
Re: Would chavs still be chavs if they wore nice clothes?
Yes, where I live we don't have anybody wearing tracksuits, our chavs wear chinos, patterned shirts and snapbacks, they're all pretty rich and dress quite decently. I've some of the more stereotypical chavs but they're quite the minority in my area, they just have a chav vibe to them. But they've been renamed Indie now haha
I mean some of our chavs are like A* maths students, wear brands like Ralph Lauren and are generally not really abusive.
There's some sort of class segregation in my town where all the generic chavs live in a different area, I occasionally seem them on the bus and it's surreal. The things they'd probably take the piss out of my friends for not doing, is what we'd find amusing to see them doing. Oh the world..Last edited by dinrah04; 03-08-2012 at 14:20. Reason: grammar -

Trousers or jeans, yes. -
Re: Would chavs still be chavs if they wore nice clothes?
Chavs have slowly been changing their dress to fit into the general population for years. You can now tell them in town from their terrible chequered shirts and Henleys Jeans. They also have made a transition from trackies to joggers, and air-maxs to general low-top trainers and addidas jackets.

Re: Would chavs still be chavs if they wore nice clothes?Tracksuit bottoms are great-Jeans and Trousers are more formal occasions and shouldn't be used on a regular basis-half of the time I wear tracksuit bottoms and half of the time I wear jeans and if i was going to an extremely formal situation or as uniform I would wear trousers. As for the hoodies,I sometimes wear hoodies and sometimes wear jumpers about. For shoes, for formal occasions I wear black shoes and normally addidas trainers.(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)
