    Black Box Insurance Review?
Soo......... I have a 1.0 litre Yaris waiting in my drive to be insured. However the cheapest insurance I can find is £1124, but this is with Admiral's Black Box insurance.

So you guys I was wondering, is box insurance any good... or is it complete rubbish?

I'm a bit half half about it but my parents are trying to pursuade me to go for it... even though they both have fully comp insurance

Quite a few people seem to use it and see it as a good way to get cheap insurance, but personally there is no way in hell a black box is going anywhere near my car!

I am fortunate enough that my insurance is fairly cheap in the first place, but I just really don't like the idea of people monitoring how I drive. Not that I drive stupidly at all, but I do enjoy pressing on every now and then so they would just use that as an excuse to ramp my premiums up. They also do you for driving at night, and I do a lot of driving after 11pm

I wasn't aware that Admiral did a black box these days - how much are they wanting for their regular insurance?

I am paying around £800 with Bell for a BMW 328i with my parents on as named drivers - that seemed to help a lot!

Good luck, I know how much of a pain it can be

Black box insurance would be good for a first car/runabout. Just don't drive like a spanner for the first year, then get a new car with a proper policy.

I would never let a black box anywhere near my car. They don't just monitor speed they also monitor how hard you accelerate and brake. I try to drive smoothly, but my big torquey diesel is great for overtaking tractors and caravans. I'm with admiral on multicar with 3 cars on the policy. I drive a 110 bhp 307 HDi with 10k per year milage tpft. I started the policy with a 1.5 dCi Megane and that was £2.4k or just short. The Pug cost another £200 to cover it for the rest of the policy when I bought it the day after I turned 18. A friend of mine had a black box policy on a Skoda Fabia 1.2 and he bragged about his cheap insurance all the time. It was only when I went to his house and the insurance company had sent him a letter and a bill for "speeding" that his smug smile disappeared!

There is no such thing as a good insurance deal.

    Speak for yourself.
The most we pay on any of our 4 cars is £175. The cheapest is £116.

Totally agree about not letting one of those stupid boxes near your car, though.

What I mean is that they've always got some excuse as to why it's expensive or they cant help you. My Dad pays £260 per year to drive a 17 year old Discovery 300TDi, 27 years road experience, no claims. Still a lot of money for an old car, but then I suppose mine is expensive because I drive a comman 6 year old car and do an above average milage for an 18 year old and the car is insured for business use.
