    Secret Societies
    Do they exist at Cambridge?
I'm talking more of the conspiratorial, intellectual society; rather than drinking society.
Like the Skull and Crossbones at Yale or the Phoenix at Harvard?

They might exist; I haven't heard of them. Drinking/dining societies are fairly common, with varying levels of elitism.

They probably do, but they're nothing serious. We're not talking Da Vinci Code black magic stuff, probably just mates that don't want anyone to know they do stupid **** in their club.

In the US the secret societies are pretty much just glorified frats, they're nothing special. I doubt it's any different here.

Make sure you get into Downing College if you want to join the local chapter of the Illuminati.

They're not very secret if we know about them?

True, by a 'secret society' I really meant 'a society where ambitious and influential people meet to get to know each other' (like S&C or Pheonix), but I didn't really know what to call it.

What? I'm at Downing, and other than the standard drinking societies, I don't think there's anything else!

(Maybe I'm not good enough for them...)

But aren't the Adonians really hard to get into? You'd have to be very well connected.

Just realised that could be construed as an unsavoury pun given the context

    Oh you'd be surprised... seriously.

As for the OP's question, yes they do exist, although I don't know if it's right to call them secret societies. A more fitting description would be super exclusive societies.
