What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?
You've got questions about applying for uni, we've got the answers. Step inside...

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?No, I don't think it will be as soon as the decision is made I think everyone will get a mass email sent out at 8am.(Original post by orange.bananna)
Yes I got that e-mail to, I presume by doing it this way they don't get people constantly refreshing track. You will get an e-mail as soon as the decision is made, and it will tell you what the decision is. Will be very nerve-racking opening that e-mail
I had to check track last year (I applied to a different university this year, didnt like my uni last year) and when you log in and your screen is loading, I got so nervous that my vision went all blurred and I could hear my heart beat. So i'm more scared for this year as I know how horrible it is
WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?No, the only email that will be sent regarding decisions on the 16th will be at 8am no earlier, from UCAS.(Original post by hb31)
I got this email as well, still a bit confused. UCAS will email us from 8am onwards on the 16th. But will the Unis possibly email us before?

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?
Their wording in the e-mail is very ambiguous.
This suggests that we actually could find out our university decision before results day (for A-Level applicants at least). These emails will be sent at regular times throughout the day from Tuesday 7 August (for Scotland only) to Friday 31 August. Track will be updated as soon as we have received decisions from your chosen universities and colleges.
Whereas this suggests that we won't be able to get them until results day (at least track anyway).Track will be updated with decision information we have received from universities and colleges from 09:00 on Scottish results day (Tuesday 7 August), and from 08:00 on A level results day (Thursday 16 August).
But what is the final deal on the e-mail front? (Thanks for bringing this up, I've lost my phone and hadn't checked my ucas e-mail so hadn't seen this e-mail!) -
Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?Oh ok, but it will still be on the 16th and means you haven't got to worry about track loading right?(Original post by ellasmith)

I haven't decided if I am going to try and check track before I go for my results or not yet, I will be leaving for sixth form at 8 anyways, so it probably wont have updated in time.
That sounds horrible, just waiting for a screen to load!! Not looking forward to it!
Would you advice to check track before getting results then or not? -
Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?
The UCAS Online Twitter states that A-Level students won't receive an e-mail before 16th August.

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?Man, they're always saying that(Original post by thelawstudent)
what is the likelihood of track crashing again this time ?
an email from ucas a few weeks ago said that they were improving the system come results day..
Then again, apparently there are less applicants this year, so maybe there'll be less strain on the servers.
edit: on my results day I was sent an email from UCAS with the title "Congratulations!"
... I had been chosen for a competition for a textbook discount, I could've literally throttled the sender of that email, literally the worst thing you could possibly email a uni applicant on results day...

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?Well, my school publishes our results online so it was nice for us to sort everything out in the comfort of our home.(Original post by orange.bananna)

I checked track first initially but then it was down so I checked my grades.
I'd rather get the plaster ripped then take it off slowly (like my little anagram?
) So if track is working by all means I think it's better to check track first because even if you don't get your grades your firm might have still accepted you, and also if you check track and find out you didn't get in you can look at clearing courses ASAP before they all go.
Also the way grades are presented are really confusing, your AS modules are posted at the top so you think that you got what you did at AS then you realise your A2 modules are at the bottom so it's all really confusing! -

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?Clearing has actually began, because clearing involves people that have received no offers as well(Original post by frank1)
Also, does the clearing process begin the day of the 16th? So hard to get info on exact timing and need to work on the 16th so stressing about that! Any info could help me plan better, Thanks
You will not be able to add a clearing choice until the evening on the 16th though.
As a brief overview:
Morning - track updates
Evening - ability to add clearing choices to those eligible
It can take a few days for track to update though, particular if you just miss your offer and the uni may still accept you. -

I'm pretty sure if I miss my grades, I won't be going to uni this year, my firm and insurance are the same grades and my course wont be in clearing. To check track or not to check track, all my friends are planning on checking it before going, so I guess I don't want to be the only one who arrives at school not knowing!
I think my school put an additional sheet into the envelope, saying your final grades, so that you don't have to start working anything out, and work out which results are which! -
Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?I got an e-mail earlier this week to say their `stopping` their iphone app as of July...or does it start to work again come results day?(Original post by Jemeter)
I managed to get on the iPhone app at 6am last year, which seemed to go live before the website did, so there's a possibility that it could happen again this year. -
Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?pretty much the same :/(Original post by orange.bananna)

what course have you applied for and what grades do you need?

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?Dentistry AAA(Original post by thelawstudent)
pretty much the same :/
what course have you applied for and what grades do you need?
I presume you've applied for Law, is your offer AAA as well? -

have you considered going into clearing for a different course?

Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?No. Universities get results a couple of days before, so they can make decisions, sort out any queries, and communicate their decisions back to UCAS. However, those decisions are not passed on until Results Day.(Original post by gemnomnom)
The universities find out our results and make their decision about a week before Results Day, in most cases, right? And when they make the decision, they tell UCAS, and UCAS tell us... So some of us may end up knowing by next week!? -
Re: What time will UCAS update track with results, i.e. after midnight on 16th?No, if I don't get in, I will resit subjects and keep reapplying until I get in somewhere! Have you thought about clearing, what courses would you consider?(Original post by thelawstudent)
yep,
have you considered going into clearing for a different course?
Are you more worried about one a-level then any of the others?
I'm most worried about my chemistry result, I did AQA chem 5, and just have no idea how I did, I've blanked those 2 horrific hours from my mind!
Which uni did you firm?

Good luck to whoever is waiting for results...
