Sell my iPhone 4S for a HTC One X?
Hi!
I own a 16GB iPhone 4S.
Before that, I owned an iPhone 3G, so i've been using iPhones now for at least 3 years.
Although the 3G looked completely different to the 4S, it feels like i've been using the same iPhone for 3 years because the operating system just feels and looks so old and dated, and it's been basically the same except a few updates like Newsstand, and looking at the hardware, I don't think much has changed other than the look, the camera, and the retina display.
Due to this, I feel like selling my iPhone, and getting an Android instead. I've been looking at the HTC One X, and Android system and it just looks like a much more modern operating system. The widgets look pretty cool and useful - apparently on Android, to turn WiFi on/off, to mess with the brightness etc, all you do is one swipe to a control widget, and there you are - on the iPhone, it's Settings > Brightness, and different menus for the Bluetooth, WiFi etc.
I'm somewhat a photographer (haha) and the HTC One X allows you to take photos whilst you are filming something at the same time which would be useful for me.
I know iOS 6 comes out next month or something, but it's still not going to make the iPhone feel different, and the operating system is just going to feel like how it did on the 3G.
But what do you think I should do? Are Androids any good really? Will they take over iPhones eventually?
I know the 4S has that Siri advantage, but it barely understands my Bristolian accent anyway. -

Galaxy S3/One X is probably recommended seeing as you get more bang for your quid. Rumours have it that the next iPhone, be it the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4GS or 4S2 etc is coming in September, or at least shown off so I'd wait until then. There's a big second hand market for iPhones so hopefully you won't lose too much money.

Re: Sell my iPhone 4S for a HTC One X?I'd say Google Now is better than Siri(Original post by mikeyd85)
I'd probably go Galaxy S3 over One X.
I'd probably wait for iPhone 5 was released before making the final decision.
Widgets are fantastic.
Siri is Ok, but android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), comes with Google Now which is no different really.
sure you have to be more direct when asking a question as it doesn't fully understand idioms, but you just have say key words and it should fully recognise what you are asking for, and the voice used and informations cards that pop up are more appealing than Siri.
OP, I'd suggest getting the HTC One X or One S, the One S is slightly smaller so may be more comfortable for you as you've used an iPhone for the last 3 years.(Original post by photographylover)

Samsung Galaxy S3 is quite good, but I would also suggest taking a look at the Galaxy Nexus as it comes with stock Android Jellybean 4.1
it's a small step from ICS but vastly improved nonetheless and more intuitive than ever!

Re: Sell my iPhone 4S for a HTC One X?Oh fair enough(Original post by mikeyd85)

but after using Siri many times, I can't say I was impressed but maybe it will change once iOS 6 is released.
This may help:

Re: Sell my iPhone 4S for a HTC One X?I'm running stock Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on my Galaxy S3 and it's amazing. Took me about half an hour to root and build, no more.(Original post by getfunky!)

I had an iPhone 4 for two years and grew to hate Apple's closed systems. It's so refreshing to be able to simply drag and drop files onto your phone, play whatever format you like and, oh yes, put in a memory card or remove the battery!
Could not be happier with the S3. -
Re: Sell my iPhone 4S for a HTC One X?You can actually get iOS 6 in beta version now. I did and it was the last reason for me selling my iPhone 4 at the end of the contract and getting a Galaxy S3.(Original post by photographylover)

Like you, I felt iOS was just old and unchanging. Android does everything I'd wanted and more. The Galaxy S3 has now outsold the 4S in a number of countries.
One thing I will say is that the iPhone build quality is the best in the game, there's a satisfying weight and polish to everything they do.
But I'm very happy now. -
Androids are excellent. Like you Ihad been using iPhones since 2009 (3Gand 4). Earlier this year my iPhone was stolen and I had about a month to go until my upgrade and so decided to buy a cheap Android smart phone and then upgrade to the 4S. I liked the Android system so much that I didn't upgrade to the 4S but decided to upgrade to the Samsung galaxy note instead. I've had the phone for about a month now and I don't regret it at all.
The iPhone seems like a toy in comparison.
So OP I'd recommend an Android, the one X wouldn't be my choice but there is so much choice with Android there is literally a phone for everyone.

I've just got rid of my iphone4 for the galaxy s3. I've been told by a few people that I'm mad for getting rid of my iPhone and not waiting for the iPhone 5 to upgrade but to honest I'm bored with iPhone, I hate iTunes and I don't fancy having to pay for a handset when the 5 does come out!
