Is it true that Lemaitre pulled out of the 100m's to concentrate on the 200?
He knew there would be absolutely no chance in the 100m I imagine.

Probably wise. Still, would've been nice to see him there.

He's playing smart, and not competing so he can be fresh for the 200m

Why does Ennis bother shifting from knickers to shorts between runs and throws?

The most efficient solution is not normally the most elegant solution

What are you on about, Bolt may look 'ugly' but he dominates every other human being that has ever lived (and competed)

This isn't gymnastics, there are no points added for elegance.

Chambers looked really good today, I'm happy for him. Everyone's been criticising him in the media so much, things like 'he's been given a lifeline like no other athlete could dream of and he's letting us down, wasting it all and getting beat by teenagers', mindless comments like that. Would be really happy for him if he gets to the final. He's a guy who made some big mistakes many years ago and now wants redemption. He's straight talking and seems more mature than a few years ago. You can see that he's determined, he's 35 and should be all means be well over the hill, but he ran one of his fastest times ever today, and that too after easing up in the later stages. With Blake, Bolt, Powell, Gatlin, Gay, and Bailey pretty much nailed on for the final, he's got a decent chance of getting through in the other spots (I was told he was the fourth fastest qualifier, only Bailey, Gay/Gatlin, and Blake were quicker), and he seems capable of a sub-10 run.

Running that quick at his age when he hasn't been near it for a very long time is incredibly suspicious.

According to the BBC sport; women's 100m final is today but isn't that too soon?

I remember in beijing where the 100m finals were much later

Might as well post it in the right thread :mmm:

Wise choice I think. He has a higher chance winning a medal in the 200m

It's not too soon, the men's 100m final is tomorrow. I think they just do it that way, because they know that there will be a lot of media coverage tomorrow for the men's 100m final.

Feel really sorry for the guys when they've prepared for years and they make such basic mistakes or something else goes wrong. :nopity:

Can't wait for Mo. When I was running long distance (stopped now unfortunately ) I always dreamt of being the Brit who finally challenged the top dogs in the long distance races, so it's great to see we've got someone doing that, at our home games as well
