    Re: General Cycling Thread
Does anyone know anything about those men dressed in suits who give the female cyclists a push up the backside at the start of the race? Also worth noting that they touch their rears for the 2 minutes preceding the start too (yes, including Miss Pendleton's).

What skills would one need for this job?

I feel that, with a 1st class degree in BSc mathematics, a valid CRB and a full driving licence that I would be suited to the role. I have plenty of work experience and would very much like a new challenge.

So, if there are any vacancies going, please let me know.

The team ones are bike mechanics or specialists who do stuff for each team. The guys in suits are commissaires/UCI/IOC officials.

They're holding the bike saddles, not their bums. :p:

If there's ever a TSR Track Team, I'll put your name forward.

Australia up next in the women's pursuit, then NZ and GB.

They don't actually touch the bums, their hand is holding the bottom of the seat.

    Yep, you're right.

Unfortunately, by the time I noticed, my post was already 3 minutes old so I decided to leave it.

I love that they're racing the mexican wave round the velodrome. Awesome. And spanking it. Almost a second faster than anyone else so far. Only a third of the way gone!

Because we have the best coaches, the best facilities and the best support setup in the world. Sky have put a LOT of money into funding British Cycling recently and just look at what Team Sky have done this year. It's really quite unbelievable.

What Roobsa said, plus the fact that we started doing it first. We're the ones that pioneered using as much science and fine tweaking. Every other nation is catching up, but we're still ahead, still forging forward.

    I've just read somewhere that...

"EVERY British rider competing in a timed event has set a world record here in London"
