Re: General Cycling ThreadI bet Vicky P was like her once, until she got mindf***** by cycling and then the commotion after Beijing 2008, and now she cries all the time.(Original post by Mess.)
She isn't very attractive at all, just seems quite chirpy and happy

I hope Laura doesn't turn out like that, but she's dating 2 people according to that article by the sun, so it could be trouble. -
Re: General Cycling ThreadStopped going out with whoever the first guy was before the olympics.(Original post by PGtips)

That's the next stage of our cycling program to ensure that we keep dominating for future years.
I was laughing when I saw Beck's face in there

Re: General Cycling ThreadNah man. I love a bit of crazy. Keeps it interesting.(Original post by Gob Bluth)
Pendleton is slightly psychotic i've heard, puts me off her
. She has fantastic eyes though

Re: General Cycling ThreadYou might suit her then(Original post by Roobsa)
Nah man. I love a bit of crazy. Keeps it interesting.
Have to get past her bf first though

Re: General Cycling ThreadNo idea, might be fiance! Probably makes sense as they've been going out for a while and he was her coach.(Original post by dhr90)
Fiance isn't it? Plus he'd have to race me, I suggest a nice all mountain event

Re: General Cycling Thread
Weekend starting 3rd August 2013 will be the first RideLondon event: http://www.ridelondon.co.uk/ 2 days where roads of London will be closed for cycling. Four events:
An 8 mile traffic free route for everyone
A 1.3 mile route for females, juniors and handcycles by invitation only
A 100 mile event for up to 20,000 on a modified version of the Olympic road route
A pro event for 150 of the worlds best riders using a variation of the London olympic road route.
It's similar to the London Marathon it seems, aim to promote business and raise money for charity. -
Re: General Cycling ThreadShame Reade couldn't repeat her semi final performance. Unlucky from Phillips, all went downhill when he unclipped in the air. I thought we would get at least one podium, ah well.(Original post by Roobsa)
BMX finals about to start. -
Re: General Cycling ThreadI saw that and was pleasantly surprised. So she knows what to do so could make the cut. If she does both, what a woman!(Original post by Roobsa)
Woah, Shanaze Reade is a former two time world champion with Victoria Pendleton on the track. How did I not know that. She's saying she might return to the track for Rio. -
Re: General Cycling Thread
figured would be best posting this here rather than making a new thread. Basically, before the olympics i'd injured my knee and wasn't able to train for rugby. Physio suggested cycling to keep my fitness up while i'm out so i'd been doing around 10 miles on my old mountain bike each night. Was massively inspired by our domination in the velodrome and have since decided i really want to get into it.
So yeah, how do you get into track cycling? I figure because there aren't that many veldromes around you need to be pretty decent to be able to train on one?
Also, i'm looking to buy a new bike and have a few questions:
- I'll be riding on particularly busy roads and have read that your vision isn't that great on a road bike due to the position you ride in, is it that much of a problem?
- i'm around 15 stone, all the road cyclists i've seen look tiny - would the frame be fine with that weight?
- how cheap is too cheap? there's one going on halfords for £200, is it likely to need constant repairs? -
