3 year Degre Course or 4-with Experience?
Im planning on doing a degree in Accounting and Finance and was wondering whether it is better to just do a 3 year A&F degree course or the 4 year one with Industrial Experience?
With the tuition fee right now at £9,000 per year, im leaning more towards the three year course but I've heard that people doing the course with work experience get better jobs and get paid more. Also, im curious whether you get paid doing a year work experience?
Cheers! -
Re: 3 year Degre Course or 4-with Experience?Okay, thanks! Yea, I'll probably go for the 4 year course. Based on what I've heard..yea, you do get paid and if they really like you they'll offer you a permanent job after you graduate.(Original post by accountant-future)
From what I can gather, experience is vital if you want to get a job after graduating so I'd suggest the 4 year course with experience
Am I right in thinking you get paid in that experience year? Like it's a job thing?

Re: 3 year Degre Course or 4-with Experience?Even more reason to do the 4 year option then isn't it?(Original post by iamsuperjai)

Re: 3 year Degre Course or 4-with Experience?
placement year hands down, but remember the university don't automatically find you a placement, you do have to work and apply yourself to palces, the uni will help you and it's a fantastic networking opportunity!
Most people whop did placement years on my course have jobs after! -

does that apply to all unis? or do some universities find placement for you? -
Re: 3 year Degre Course or 4-with Experience?Forget about the whole tuition fees. You won't ever start paying it off until you're on a decent wage - and when you do it is only a small % of your salary. Although we all complain about it, it is a fairly fair system.(Original post by iamsuperjai)

But DEFFO go for industrial experience if you can. From experience it puts you better placed than other students:
1. it gives you experience you can discuss about
2. more importantly- if you are a good worker, most will keep you on over summer and eventually offer you some sort of job.
So definitely go for a placement.... the question is, are you guaranteed one or are you expected to find one?!
