Claims Handler - Insurance/Personal Injury with a view to becoming a barrister
    Hi all,

I currently work for a FTSE 100 insurance company and I am in the middle of applying for a job which would train me to handle claims with reserves with a range between £70,000 and £8,000,000 - claims with a highly technical aspect and a matching value.

Should I be successful in achieving this goal, I will be required to deal with my own caseload, negotiate directly with solicitors and other representatives, and attend trials where necessary to secure settlement and defend cases where necessary.

Would this be a strong background as a enter a two year BPTC this year? In other words; with two years of this job behind me, would I be in a strong position once I have completed the BPTC? Presuming of course that I make efforts to take part in moots etc.

As far as the bar goes, a 2:1 from Swansea could be an issue. I'm not saying its impossible, but it will be very very difficult indeed. I think.
