    Jobseekers Allowance
Is anyone else's payments delayed for JSA? I'm really struggling.

Is this a new claim, or have you been paid before?

How long have you been claiming? It can take a few weeks to set up a claim.

It took a while for mine to come through about 3 weeks at least.

When was this, roughly, if you don't mind me asking?

I applied on the 4th and was paid last Wednesday. And I only recieved £50, I don't know if that's to be expected for a first payment though.

I don't think they pay you for the waiting days.

They don't. You have 3 waiting days.

I started claiming on the 12th of July and have signed on twice so far, I haven't received any money yet. When I do receive my first instalment does anyone know if it will just be one lot of £56 or will it be combined for the weeks I have waited?

It can take a couple of weeks to get your first payment. It'll be the amount you are owed for that whole period though.

If you really want to know what the hold up is (if any), give benefit enquiries a ring. I should say that at busy times of the year it can take longer than usual. July/August is usually busier due to lots of grads signing on for the first time.

And don't phone on a Monday. You won't get through.
