Interesting interpretation, but no unfortunately not. -
Re: MHoC By-election - August 2012
Égalité, c'est pas pour nous! En fait, nous avons pris les mésures contre mobilité sociale, contre les ouvriers, et contre les étrangers.
The clear motto of the Tories, I think. That is, in English: Equality, it's not for us. In fact, we've taken proper precautions against social mobility, workers and foreigners.Last edited by obi_adorno_kenobi; 05-08-2012 at 22:18. -

Quid? Google Vertere dicit quod mea translatio est perfecta.
It literally reads:
'What? Google said that it turns outs because my translation was perfect/ complete. -
Re: MHoC By-election - August 2012Here here.(Original post by toronto353)
I've never figured the reason why people needed an office for equality. It is deeply patronising to people that they get a job for example simply because of quotas and it is deeply patronising to say to people 'well you can't stand up for yourself because you're a woman or in a minority group of society so we'll have an office to do that for you'. Once you let those that are unequal fight for their equality through negotiations and protests, then they shall succeed. Leveling the playing field does not create equality and having an office for equality does not create equality, it simply weigh down the field for one area of society.
It is having an office for equality that holds true equality back because you don't let people compete equally and fairly and fight for equal treatment, you simply give it to them on a plate and change who has the unfair advantage.
I've said this to Morgsie but he's never answered. Although I am from an ethnic minority background and a woman, I would be horrified and feel degraded if my name went on a short-list just because of those reasons.Last edited by meenu89; 05-08-2012 at 22:18. -

Re: MHoC By-election - August 2012What!(Original post by Morgsie)
The Tories will be defeated in debate when the electorate finds out they disregard equalities and their reckless cuts
Unlike the turn coat lib dems then.

It is under Tories that social mobility rises.
Thanks to the past Labour govt's our social mobility is now lower than ever!

All the time. Honestly, you're even being turncoats over being turncoats. When will you Lib Dems learn?

Do enlighten me. -
Re: MHoC By-election - August 2012But, you are perfectly cool with the idea of being discriminated against because of your ethnicity or gender? If an employer doesn't offer you a job because of your gender, you find that acceptable?(Original post by meenu89)
Here here.

Re: MHoC By-election - August 2012So you are suggesting that because people are from a certain ethnicity or gender that they should have an automatic entitlement to a position?(Original post by eff01)
But, you are perfectly cool with the idea of being discriminated against because of your ethnicity or gender? If an employer doesn't offer you a job because of your gender, you find that acceptable?
Of course it is in no way acceptable for anyone to use grounds such as gender as a deciding factor in choosing to not offer someone a position but it is also unacceptable for someone to be obliged to appoint someone (who in their view an inferior candidate) purely on the grounds of their gender. -
Re: MHoC By-election - August 2012When did she say that?(Original post by eff01)

Re: MHoC By-election - August 2012Employers will logically offer the job to whoever they believe will be most productive. We do not need lefty positive discrimination, have faith in the human race and its ability to make the correct decisions.(Original post by eff01)
