Égalité, c'est pas pour nous! En fait, nous avons pris les mésures contre mobilité sociale, contre les ouvriers, et contre les étrangers.

The clear motto of the Tories, I think. That is, in English: Equality, it's not for us. In fact, we've taken proper precautions against social mobility, workers and foreigners.

Lord almighty, Google's having an off day today. I understand all the words, but can't make out what you're trying to say.

    It literally reads:

'What? Google said that it turns outs because my translation was perfect/ complete.

I've never figured the reason why people needed an office for equality. It is deeply patronising to people that they get a job for example simply because of quotas and it is deeply patronising to say to people 'well you can't stand up for yourself because you're a woman or in a minority group of society so we'll have an office to do that for you'. Once you let those that are unequal fight for their equality through negotiations and protests, then they shall succeed. Leveling the playing field does not create equality and having an office for equality does not create equality, it simply weigh down the field for one area of society.

It is having an office for equality that holds true equality back because you don't let people compete equally and fairly and fight for equal treatment, you simply give it to them on a plate and change who has the unfair advantage.
    Here here.

I've said this to Morgsie but he's never answered. Although I am from an ethnic minority background and a woman, I would be horrified and feel degraded if my name went on a short-list just because of those reasons.

But, you are perfectly cool with the idea of being discriminated against because of your ethnicity or gender? If an employer doesn't offer you a job because of your gender, you find that acceptable?

So you are suggesting that because people are from a certain ethnicity or gender that they should have an automatic entitlement to a position?

Of course it is in no way acceptable for anyone to use grounds such as gender as a deciding factor in choosing to not offer someone a position but it is also unacceptable for someone to be obliged to appoint someone (who in their view an inferior candidate) purely on the grounds of their gender.

Employers will logically offer the job to whoever they believe will be most productive. We do not need lefty positive discrimination, have faith in the human race and its ability to make the correct decisions.

Did you see my other comment about a potential MRLP candidate earlier in this thread?
