I've never figured the reason why people needed an office for equality. I've said this to Morgsie but he's never answered. Although I am from an ethnic minority background and a woman, I would be horrified and feel degraded if my name went on a short-list just because of those reasons.

But, you are perfectly cool with the idea of being discriminated against because of your ethnicity or gender? If an employer doesn't offer you a job because of your gender, you find that acceptable?

So you are suggesting that because people are from a certain ethnicity or gender that they should have an automatic entitlement to a position?

Of course it is in no way acceptable for anyone to use grounds such as gender as a deciding factor in choosing to not offer someone a position but it is also unacceptable for someone to be obliged to appoint someone (who in their view an inferior candidate) purely on the grounds of their gender.

Employers will logically offer the job to whoever they believe will be most productive. We do not need lefty positive discrimination, have faith in the human race and its ability to make the correct decisions.
