Re: the ultimate acne cure!
It didn't work for me. I started getting these little weird white spots on my face as well nose bleeds everyday. Also, my period became irregular so I had to stop after taking it for 2 weeks.
Its been a about 3 weeks since i stopped but I still have all those problems. I do not recommend taking it

Re: the ultimate acne cure!
The main ingredient in Accutane, a derivative from vitamin A, was used in the past to treat cancer. I had severe acne and I thought about going on Accutane, it was even recommended by my doctor, but I never did due to fear of the possible side effects. Depression, acne getting worse, suicidal thoughts, those were some things that I wouldn't be able to take on.
I stayed on my anti-biotics and finished the 40 day cycle, after that I started using some topical treatments mildly so they wouldn't dry my face up into a raisin. The best thing I can recommend to a person battling acne, is to CONTROL your diet. Stop eating crap, drink tons of water and consume lean meats, fruits and veggies. No sugar, no oil, no fat, NOTHING. Don't expect to see results instatnly after changing your diet, three weeks at the minimum is when you can even begin to see the slightest change. I've been practically acne free for a year now thanks to this, I swear there is nothing better. Don't risk going on prescription drugs, just get rid of all the toxins in your body through nutritional and healthy dieting.
I understand that acne can have a lot of sources, from emotional to hormonal, etc. But based on my own experience, I highly recommend staying away from things like Accutane. Even with my anti-biotics, I didn't even start seeing any change for the better until I changed the way I ate COMPLETELY. -
Re: the ultimate acne cure!
Accutane is a last resort where extreme diet changes, topicals and other medications haven't worked. It worked very well for me while on it, 100% clear but I'm getting spots again (nothing major), however it has calmed it down permanently... If you cope well on it then it's wonderful, but in rare cases it can carry more severe side effects than the common dryness. Start off at a low dosage.

Re: the ultimate acne cure!Acne is a medical condition that leads to loads of spots and the principle of getting rid of spots and acne is the same but it is a lot harder to get rid of acne though because the levels of sebdum are a lot higher leading to more and tougher spots.(Original post by unclej)
This isn't for spots it's for acne and it's scaring -
Re: the ultimate acne cure!I saw my GP today and he said he's referred me to a dermatologist - hopefully i'll be prescribed accutane.(Original post by unclej)
i couldnt find a previous thread on it but im just finishing a pescription of "Roacutane" and it has worked like a dream.
i've received creams and antibiotic pescriptions before but provided little help.
i cant urge fellow sufferers enough to ask to be refered to a dermatologists and suggest roacutane. it is very effective but has somewhat contreversial side effects.
please any other users share the side effects you noticed i only really had dry skin and lips that was mangable with alot of moisturiser and vassaline.
but seriously guys i can't recomend roacutane enough.
Slightly confused about a rather trivial matter - my GP said i'd have to wait around 6 weeks to see a derm and that I would receive a letter in the post.
When will I receive the letter with the appointment? In around 6 weeks time or very soon? Thanks
