Halfway through: GB are flying
Wow, what a contrast in morale for team GB compared to the end of Wednesday. Now halfway through we're on 14 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze. Double that and we got 28 gold, 14 silver and 16 bronze. Now that would certainly guarantee third place. Whilst it would be disproportianate to predict things like this, there are still so many events where medals can be won.
But the spirit team GB have shown, whether gold, silver, bronze or no medal, has been immense. Credit to what is so far a sensational Olympics squad, hats off to the never-say-die team GB! -
Re: Halfway through: GB are flyingI am seriously impressed and happy by Team GB's performance. I would have expected them to be strong, but not this strong. I am a bit disappointed by Russia and Germany so far. Would be interesting to see the European Union ranked as well.(Original post by Wawasan)

Re: Halfway through: GB are flyingPretty much that really. Normally it could take up to 25 golds but, with home advantage, I don't think anyone can overtake us at this rate.(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)
20 golds will guarantee 3rd place.
GB will get 3rd place, though.
If these games don't "inspire a generation", nothing will. -
Re: Halfway through: GB are flyingYea Germany's bad performance is mainly due to the swimming team... Russia's bad performance really is surprising. I thought they would be at least in the top 5. We shouldn't forget though that the Olympic Games are only halfway through. If Russia goes on a medal-winning-spree like GB yesterday, they still got a chance.(Original post by jaklargerne)

Re: Halfway through: GB are flying
There is a certain satisfaction seeing the Aussies doing badly in sports considering how much they love to big themselves up (and can't seem to resist making snide remarks about British sport). I'm very impressed with team GB so far, punching well about our weight for a second olympics in a row.
We almost came third last time but the Russians beat us by a gold!
