    Repeating MSc Engineering course
Hai, I am a non EU international engineering student, majoring in mechanical/powerplant. And unfortunately, I had failed few papers and was awarded PG Cert for the course. Is it possible for me to repeat a year, and having reduction in fees? Or is it better for me to pursue another degree in other universities? Is there any possibility for credit transfer to another university? By having PG Cert, what are my other opportunities/options? I am really in a fix, I don't really know what to do. Some pointers would definitely help. Thanks

If I were you I would just ring up each university's admissions department and ask them about it! Each university has a different policy so you really need to ask if they will only let you make up the lost credit to get a better award. The uni you were at should let you do this.

There's nothing wrong with having a PGCert as this is still a postgraduate education and so would still qualify you for most postgraduate roles....

MEng is actually undergraduate, You have to do it at the uni you did your bachelors.

MSc is usually more specialised and is postgraduate.

An engineer can do either and get good jobs at the end of them.

It is unlikely that you will get reduced fees for having a PG Cert. as a non EU national presumably with a tier 4 visa, you need to be registered on a full time course. It is unlikely that another university would be able to offer you a full time "top up" MSc course which met the visa requirements. Plus it depends on how well you passed the modules on your PG Cert and if the modules are the same as the ones on the new course.

What options did your existing university offer you? If you have used up your retake attempts and they have cashed in your results to award you the PG Cert, then it is unlikely that further retakes at that institution will be available. Contact other universities and see if you can secure a place. But make sure that you are up to completing the next course successfully.

So, chances are the university wont allow me to get the MSc even if I repeat another year? And by repeating, I will not get any discounted fees too?

Thank you very much for the replies. I really appreciate it. It's just that I've come so far from my home country, getting the qualification means a lot to me.
