Re: The BBC
I think it has been superb. A couple of dodgy interviews but on the whole, a very good service. I hope people are taking advantage of it though.
Edit: @ above, yeah NBC is apparently a complete shambles. Crap 'experts' and commentators, many commercials and subsequently a lot of stuff missed out, and lots just not shown even on the website player according to another forum I frequent.
They were all complaining that the opening ceremony was disjointed, then realised NBC cut out loads for commercial breaks, despite the fact that it was a prerecorded broadcast... just stop the tape...

Re: The BBCI know that during the football they put commercials on.. during the actual match.. and they missed a goal because of it the other day(Original post by Miracle Day)
Yeah, I've heard of so many Americans using proxies to watch the BBC coverage because they said their NBC was completely inferior
. Poor Americans.

Re: The BBC
Definitely, I know people give them a lot of stick but fair play to them the coverage on tv, online and on fivelive has been excellent. Some non-sports fans will say they're overdoing it, but I'd say they're right to overdo considering its a home olympics which isn't going to happen again for a long time.

Re: The BBC
I agree that the broad range of coverage is excellent, but some of the quality on some sports has been lacking. I've also noticed a lot of microphone issues when they switch from one person to another or when they go to an interview, even for the high profile athletic events.
The cycling coverage drives me insane, but I'm too used to eurosport coverage (I have been watching this when available) so I can't expect anything to that quality. I also agree that Sue Barker would have been better for primetime coverage rather than Lineker.
Otherwise, I think they've done a very good job.
The commentary free channels are much appreciated too.

Re: The BBC
I think it's been spot on. A lot better than when Channel 4 did the Athletics in Daegu anyway!!
As far as I can see, nearly everyone is an ex-athelete/sports player, and they all know what they're talking about. They all talk in a calm, knowledgeable manner with lots of enthusiasm at the right points e.g. when Great Britain is close to winning a medal! It's so much better than American commentators who sound like they're gonna piss their pants with excitement every minute!
Money well spent. -

Re: The BBCThe coverage has been excellent. Perhaps a bounce-back after the Jubilee Pageant?
Coverage is bid for by the networks for each Olympics (and hence Channel 4 have the Paralympic broadcasting rights) so it's uncertain but hopefully they will.(Original post by Miracle Day)
Will the BBC continue this to future Olympics? -
Re: The BBC
Digital channels excellent. Website and apps very good.
Highlights show terrible -- everything is like a montage. Show the actual races dammit!!
Online articles mediocre. They've improved but initially missed out major details, such as who won the goddamn medals.
I'm starting to dislike Gary Lineker. He's become cheeky and arrogant and frankly don't like his snide comments.Last edited by silent ninja; 05-08-2012 at 17:39.
