Studying in a whole new field!
Hello everyone, I have a question...
I can't find the information I would like online, so I was hoping perhaps somebody may be able to help me.

At the moment I'm studying for a bachelor of arts and I love it a lot. And I've been thinking about what to do afterwards; a masters is appealing and from the field I'm studying I'm sure there are a few options. But what I feel I would really like is to study at a high level something completely new and academic.

In terms of money, it's too expensive to take on another three year bachelors course, but I wouldn't be able to do a masters in something I'm so unfamiliar with. So I'm thinking I'd like to do an have to do some kind of foundation course first, and then move abroad, and go to university to do bachelors where it's cheaper! (This could then lead on to some kind of masters.) This sounds very intriguing. The problem is I haven't had any proper education since year 7, when I left school, and so don't think I know any of the fundamental academic requirements to partake in such a course (I'd like to do physics).

Now I don't think it's hard for me to learn new things, and I'm excited to, but I don't know what I can do to ensure that I build up the foundations with witch to actually apply with confidence to study physics at a relatively high level. Are there one year foundation courses specifically designed for these kind of scenarios? Am I right in thinking that student finance will finance four years all together, so potentially I can get one year financed for some kind of foundation course after I graduate for my BA?

Does anybody have any thoughts/advice/similar concerns they can share with me?

    Thankyou!

If you've not had any proper education since year 7 how did you get on a BA course?

I suppose by being decent at what I'm interested in. I learn fairly easily; I'm inclined to presume partially due to the fact that I wasn't bored out of my enjoyment for learning.
I heard universities quite like people that didn't go to school, also.

I wouldn't take my pretty broad generalisation about the UK education system as some kind of insult.... I actually don't get your comment
