Is there any way I can check that I have applied for the HE Maintenance Grant?
I am not 100% sure that I did as it was a while ago and I'm a bit paranoid that I didn't.

and you can just review your whole application, it should be listed on the same page as whether you are applying for a Maintenance Loan and Tuition Fee Loan. I think they've changed the application form for this year and you are awarded it automatically depending on your circumstances.
But you can usually make changes to your application form by using the website or calling them directly. So if you haven't applied for it yet, you can still do even when university has started and they will backdate it.

Just one more question. The letter I received from Student Finance said that the university will receive £9000 and the amount paid to me is £9406.
What is the £9406 made up of? Does it include the grant?
It should show a list of sums that you are eligible for and that will be paid to you, next to each sum it should also show what type of Loan/Grant it is.
