Either they are preparing for something or it's just all for show?

Tax payers money has to feed the military-industrial complex somehow. Though it seems increasingly likely some protracted conflict in Asia and the Middle-East is going to happen. Possibly WWIII.

that is mental, it just goes on and on. that train engine must be so powerful to drag a load like that.

We have no information other than "military vehicles are being moved about somewhere". To jump to wild conclusions based on that is silly.

Doesn't look like that many tanks for a highly militarised country of 300 million to me...

America isn't necessarily going to use them, just shipping them off. Many countries are buying new hardware, especially the middle east. Qatar just did some multi billion arms deal with the states if I'm not mistaken

So we gotta move all our armour from fort A to fort B?

    Yep

Pain in the ass... should we tell the public?

Why? ...Why would you even ask that? ...No, why would we? Dumbass

I dunno, you know people, they jump to conclusions and panic whenever they see something new.

    Nah, that won't happen.

Its neither. Those are Bradley AFVs, they're an old design that is currently being upgraded and so they are probably the accumulated armoured units from three of four armoured/mechanised units that are due a refit.

Train travel in the US is probably the best in the world when it comes to moving frieght. That's an easy way to transport that number of armoured fighting vehicles without having to use trucks which costs more, takes longer and needs far more trailers.

They are also still marked with the training decals and flares. Which means they've probably been used by trainee operators and now that that unit of operators is cleared they can swap out that unit for the newer Bradleys for future classes. Those ones will likely be swapped back into circulation after the refit.

This is nothing more then that. Those aren't armed yet, they aren't carrying any ammunition caches on the tank hulls to back up the stores inside and they'd be travelling with fuel tanks too for easy loading once they'd arrived. This is nothing more then transporting old models for refit. They also aren't technically tanks, they're designated AFVs or Armoured Fighting Vehicles. It wouldn't be wrong to designate them IFVs (Infantry fighting vehicles) or CFVs (Command fighting vehicles) either. But they are certainly not tanks.

no the UK hasn't had US built tanks since WWII , the last significant military purchases from the US were the chinooks and C 17 for the RAF and various trucks for the Army

Those are Bradley APC's, not tanks, and that's just a fraction of the United State's arsenal of armoured vehicles to be fair.

Several things could be going on.

    1. Being moved to a different base.
    2. Being sent to be scrapped.
    3. Being sent to be refitted/upgraded.
    4. Being sent for export and sale to overseas (an American ally of course).
    5. There is impending doom and they're being sent to bolster America's desperate attempts to defend itself from a currently unknown foe.
    6. America has got a hankerin' for sum invadin' again, murika needs another victory praise Jesus.

Train looked so long I wouldn't be surprised if the back tank was still in it's station of origin when the first tank car made it to that crossing. XD Trains that length just can't happen in the UK.

    Edit: DH-Biker called it.

    Those aren't even tanks :mmm:

Outmoded APCs and IFVs. I wouldn't be surprised if they were being sold, scrapped or upgraded. But what you see there is not the strong arm of the US military
