Andy Murray: Double gold vs Wimbledon
Which is bigger for Murray? Winning double gold (assuming he does) or winning that Wimbledon title against Federer?

Grand Slams are seen as bigger, not by that much though.

Wimbledon will always be the priority for tennis players, however this must come a close second if he manages it. C'mon Andy!

Wimbledon is a fair bit bigger in "tennis terms", but in terms of general sporting achievement, a double gold is obviously amazing.

Looks like Murray is going to get the singles gold now certainly.

Wimbledon comes around every year, but the chance to win double gold on home soil is once in a lifetime

I feel that winning double gold could create the same impact for Murray that the Davis cup did for Djokovic

    YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET IN ANDY!!!!!!!

I can't believe it, I was watching the tennis with the Dark Knight Rises soundtrack and it was at 1:30 when he scored the winning point - it was the best feeling in the world!

Olympics doesn't compare to Wimbledon for his title as a tennis player. Olympics doesn't affect his ranking and he doesn't get any money for it - shown by Murray's emotion at both Wimbledon and the olympics.

Yeah you could tell. He was thinking 'why couldn't it have been Wimbledon?'

Ranking points don't make a tournament the best, neither does prize money. You get more money and ranking points from the Masters 1000 tournaments but if you ask any tennis player I guarantee they would rather win the Olympics.

    Both.

Wimbledon is every year, but it is the home grand slam.

The Olympics are every four years, but this is the only time in his career they will be in London.

gold in olympics as it's one tournament every 4 years vs grand slams which take place yearly.
Poor reason, do you think Messi would rather win the Olympics then the Champions League ? A gold in the Olympics is great but its nothing compared to the Majors. Majors are seen as the pinnacle not the gold medal. For certains sports a gold medal is the pinnacle but for sports such as Tennis, Football and Basketball they all have Championships which are more prized.

They would say that they would rather win the Olympics in the press in order to support their country - being patriotic etc. But I think the money and ranking is more important to them.

Murray cried at the Wimbledon finals for losing, compare this to winning the gold at the Olympics, didn't cry, barely even smiled - unless you count the forced ones during the photographs.

Murray has $20mil already, a few extra hundred k isn't going to bother him. And world ranking again isn't that big in tennis, it's nice but people aim for tournament wins not world rankings.

He didn't cry because he was saving his emotions for the second match.
