Re: LNAT Preparation
it's meant to test for aptitude. there's nothing you can do, you've either got it in you or you don't. just make sure you can handle the nerves and the time, that's about it really.
source? i aced that mother****er and got a UCL offer.
edit: a week later, and still getting negs? some jealous ****ers sucking my cock out there!
bring on the hate, yum your jealousy feeds me!

Re: LNAT PreparationQuick question, do you receive your results for it? and if so what classifies as good?(Original post by punkski)

Re: LNAT PreparationThey email the results to you. They release them in I think two batches, depending on when you took the test; but you won't be able to see your score before you apply.(Original post by Conzy210)

You can judge what is 'good' by seeing the average score for that year, and the cut-offs various universities have (for instance, I don't think UCL takes people with under 21). -
Re: LNAT PreparationAh thanks, I was hoping I'd be able to see my results before applying but never mind. From looking at old papers, I think I'll do fairly well however I can see myself dropping a fair few marks, are good scores almost perfect or is it the kind of test where very few people will get high (90%+) marks?(Original post by michael321)

Sorry about all the questions -
Re: LNAT PreparationI got my results in February and that was for the earlier batch I think, so you'll probably hear if you've got an offer or not before you know your LNAT score!(Original post by Conzy210)

The LNAT is notoriously difficult. The multiple choice is out of 42 and anything above 21 is good. If you hit the mid to high 20s or 30s, you're doing really well. My only advice is to get your hands on past papers to get your head around the types of questions and the format of it. There's also the essay, which isn't that difficult if you do an essay subject already -
Re: LNAT PreparationAh thank God, I know for a fact I'll struggle on the multiple choice more than the essay, is either section worth more do you know? Or are all your marks just added up? Pretty relieved that only one of my choices should require the LNAT(Original post by RampantLion)

Re: LNAT PreparationI think anything above mid-20s is considered very good. But I don't think many people get that. I have looked for stats on the spread of LNAT scores in the past, but I haven't found anything.(Original post by Conzy210)

The essay is not centrally marked. It's up to each university to decide how they use and weight each part of the test. -
Re: LNAT PreparationCheers for clearing everything up mate(Original post by michael321)

Re: LNAT Preparation
Hi all,
As the LNAT is designed to test your aptitude for law, we advise that you steer clear of any materials or tuition that claims to be able to teach you the skills required.
Of course, though, you will want to perform to the best of your ability. You can download our official, free guide to preparing for the LNAT at www.lnat.ac.uk. It will give you an understanding of what the test is, the skills it tests, how to practice using those skills, and advice from test examiners and students who have already sat the test.
We hope that helps, best of luck. -

Let me ask you the difficult questions!
Have you conducted any research on the number of candidates who have had training for the LNAT or have used non-officially mandated training guides? Do you have any data on the success rates of such candidates compared with candidates who have not had such training or used such materials?
You have published statistics for the LNAT test for the year 2008-9 on your website. Why have you not done so since? Will you publish the subsequent statistics?
Have you conducted any research correlating degree outcome with the LNAT score? You should now have five cohorts of law graduates who have taken the LNAT.
When Cambridge withdrew in 2008, they said that "the numerical scores awarded to applicants in the multiple-choice section of the test do not provide sufficiently distinctive and useful information within the Cambridge admissions process to justify applicants being required to sit the LNAT" and "The University of Cambridge has made the decision to stop using the LNAT based on its own assessment of the usefulness of the test in the context of Cambridge‟s admissions process, which is distinctively different from those of other universities." Well, there is one university whose admission process is not distinctively different to Cambridge's. Has Oxford conducted any research on the usefulness of the LNAT and if so, then with what result?
