    Hello all,

I'm hoping to start university in September. The University I'm hoping to attend it about an hour away from where I live. In my hometown, I have a job at a bar on Saturday nights and they want me to continue working every Saturday night during my time at University. I was thinking of doing this for a while, until I find another job near my University. Do you think this is a feasible idea? It would mean having to travel by train every Saturday, and travel back on the Sunday. Does anyone know of any student rail passes which would make these journeys reasonably cheap or at least affordable? Also, do you think it would effect my social life? I guess I could go out on other nights such as during the week and also it would mean I get to see my friends back home once a week, but I'm still undecided if its worth it all together.

    Thoughts?

You'll be spending half your wages getting there and back...
Railcards have 1/3 off all fares, and they're £28 for the year...

Railcards give you a third off fares, but I suspect that once you have got there and back, it won't be worth the time and effort. With bar experience, you can always get bar work elsewhere. I'd quit, but ask if it's possible to go back in the holidays.
