I also couldn't believe it really, but Murray did play brilliant tennis against Djokovic in the semis.
And I think Norton1 meant what would be Federer's motivation to throw the game, it's not like he would have needed any cash from betting on Murray and then losing on purpose.

I think Federer wouldn't have taken 5 million to lose that match. He's got something like 30 million so he doesn't need any more and the olympic gold is the only thing he's missing.

Murray has beaten Federer more times than the reverse. Sometimes players have bad days... Federer wasn't playing his best today and Murray was. The best man won and I'm glad Murray did and in some respects I wasn't surprised, after his fantastic match against Djokovich and Federer's not-so-great one against Del Potro.

Wow, I'm not saying that Murray didn't deserve this, or that he wasn't good enough. I just felt that Federer could have played better, or was holding back. Yes, I'm not an expert, and yes, I don't know a lot about tennis, but it was a feeling, not a statement! I was just looking for opinions, but if I'm incorrect, I apologise!

Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't even supposed to say that in the original post, not sure if that was an autocorrect or not. What I meant was, Murray *has*beaten Federer before ( that was my mistake), but I thought Federer was a better player overall? That's just my opinion!

Well, Federer has obviously been a much much more successful player than Murray, but that doesn't mean he's going to win every match.

Murray completely outplayed Federer today.

I'd guess that Federer thinks winning Wimbledon is better than an Olympic Gold so let Murray win because he pities the poor lad.
