Does this dream speak to you?
A friend of mine who is "on the edge", not properly functioning as a christian, suffering from stress and depression for years.

Last night he had a dream where signs of the times were being highlighted in different directions, the people of the World were just standing around, the Lord's people were all walking straight toward an open door. The dream then ended leaving him with the question: what about me?

I thought I would ask you the same question?

I had a dream last night where I was a cow and was abducted by aliens. I then blacked out and when I woke up again, I was back on Earth with my udder missing.
Does this dream speak to you?

Seriously, dreams mean nothing. If anything, it is because of his depression.

are the rest of his family and friends religious? he is probably struggling maintaining his faith (if he hasn't lost it already) but he wants to maintain the relationships he has around him. hypothetically if he were to come out atheist or as apart of a different church/religion what would the response be of his family and community?

i could be wrong, interpreting dreams is as inexact and speculative as astrology or tarot card reading.

I'd say it's the stress, depression and confusion over his/her religion that caused such a dream. And even if it didn't, it doesn't mean anything - it's just a dream. Don't dwell on dreams, it can become an unhealthy obsession.

Sounds about right. Doors usually represent the opening of new possibilities and challenges in the future, coupled with the religious context could represent a need for greater spirituality in the dreamer's life and the fact that he wasn't able to pass through the door (achieve the greater spirituality) and was left wondering 'what about me?' could represent literally being 'shut out' of a opportunity in one's life. If he's suffering from depression, I doubt he would be feeling very fulfilled (emotionally and spiritually). Clear sense of confusion, frustration, disappointment, etc. in that dream; emotions linked to depression.

Or you know, the door could represent a vagina and he's suffering from anxiety neurosis brought on by sexual frustration and maybe even a little womb envy. Interpreting dreams with a neo-Freudian mindset sure is fun!
