What can I do with these A levels?
    Hi,
I'm about to start my A levels and have picked Maths, Further Maths, Physics and English Lit. However, I'm starting to worry that picking English Lit instead of Chemistry will dramatically limit the uni courses I can apply for
Which ones do you know of that I could do with my A levels?

Doing those a-levels means more science based courses will be open to you, although you could also do eng lit. Not doing chem wouldn't really limit your choices, as it's really only essential for chemistry-based courses or medicine. You could do engineering, physics, maths, economics, law etc.

This pdf might help you, it's published by the Russell Group of top unis and suggests the best a-levels for specific degree courses.

All of your subjects are considered 'traditional', so that will also stand you in good stead.

Depends what you want to do, you could do chemistry instead of further maths and broaden your options but I wouldn't recommend it as there isn't a point in doing English literature as you'd need more humanities if you were to apply for a degree in arts. Therefore I would say choose chemistry instead of English Literature UNLESS you really love English lit, or are not good at chemistry.

It's probably best to think about what you may want to do, first. Then we can give you some better advice!

If you're worried about keeping your options open then definitely stick with Lit. You have 3 science subjects, Lit shows that you can do more than numbers and it should also help you later on when you write essays/reports at uni.

With your options you could go on to do things like maths, engineering, economics, finance, IT etc or even things like Law, Lit, Sociology etc. Don't worry about your options, your subjects are really good so you should be fine
