Insanity Workout
What's the crack with this?
Heard a lot of people say it's very intense and not for the pussys amongst us, i.e. the scrawny white guys. You know, the ones that look like they've not been out in the sun for 15 years, a little bum fluff on their face, often wear glasses and live on a diet of cola and crisps. Chat about Warcraft World or something.
60 days of 'insanely' tough training.
Anyone tried it? Anyone completed it? Anyone pussied out and gone back to eating doritos and playing that Warcraft game?
Or has anyone here actually got some minerals and walked the walk?
Who's just talking the talk?
Need some answers here people. -
Re: Insanity WorkoutWatch out everyone, we have a badass over here. 100% Alpha, he takes lunch money and doesn't afraid of anything.(Original post by Rybee)

You Sir, have made me laugh. LOL. -
Re: Insanity WorkoutI'm currently doing P90X which is a workout designed by the same company, Beachbody. I believe Insanity is just a high intensity cardio workout (no weights) that burns a lot of calories. It's more for losing weight and fat than building some lean muscle. After finishing P90X I might give Insanity a go if I need to lower my BF% even more.(Original post by Rybee)

Re: Insanity WorkoutIt's all done on DVD. The main trainer is a guy called Shaun T (if I remember from the advert correctly) who leads the workouts. It's a home workout(Original post by AmanKD)
Is there an instructor to this or is it possible to join some insanity teams at different gyms?

Re: Insanity Workouthttp://www.beachbody.com/product/fit...ms/insanity.do(Original post by Bubblyminty)
What is this? I have never heard of it...can someone give me a brief summary?
It's an extreme home workout that is meant to get you a great body in 60 days, if you do it properly and eat really well. Uses 'max interval training' which means the majority of the workout is really hard with very brief rest. Check out the website if you want to know more, personally it's not my thing but each to their own.Last edited by Converse Rocker; 07-08-2012 at 22:35. -
Re: Insanity WorkoutOh I see. Is this not similar to Bodyrockers workouts (don't know if you have heard of them or not...). www.bodyrock.tv/(Original post by Converse Rocker)

I usually do 45-50 secs on and 10 secs off when I train. I do 12 mins of weighted cardio, then 12 mins of bodyweight exercises, then 12 mins of legwork and then 100 of 3 types of ab exercises. Then I die

Re: Insanity WorkoutProbably, there are a few of these extreme home workouts that are meant to give a 'ripped' body in a really short space of time.(Original post by Bubblyminty)

Re: Insanity WorkoutIn my last set of legwork (which I do high knees, Longjack and jump lunges), I put 100 reps of different ab exercises in between. So say something like 100 mountain climbers which I try to do as quick as possible..maybe just under 2 and a half mins. Then 100 ab crunches with my legs elevated in about 2.5 mins and 100 of something else (my mind is blank right now). It depends on the exercise, ab crunches etc are quick. I do these to give my legs a rest.(Original post by Converse Rocker)

Can I just ask, does that mean you are doing 300 reps of ab exercises total? How long does it take you, because I don't mean to sound rude, but when I hear numbers like that I often question form/ how you are doing the exercise/ what the exercise is. -
Re: Insanity WorkoutI actually edited that bit out of my post to avoid going off topic, but I obviously wasn't fast enough(Original post by Bubblyminty)

My bad.
Okay, I was under the impression you were doing 3 sets of 100 ab exercises back to back. I see what you meant now. -
Re: Insanity WorkoutOh no, that would make my abs die and take me ages(Original post by Converse Rocker)

. The legwork is timed and I try to get max reps but the abs are just a personal challange.
I usually workout alongisde my brother which makes me push harder as it is more competitive. I just don't drink the protein as I don't want to be looking like Madonna

Re: Insanity Workout
I do P90x which has more strength / resistance training in it than Insanity. Since starting in March I've dropped a dress size without altering my diet and got through to 3 national finals in my sport...I'd say it gets results. Thrilled and would definitely recommend it. I've tried Insanity but personally don't find the instructor or set up as motivating - p90x is more intimate and almost like a tv programme.

Re: Insanity Workout
Started insanity beginning of July as part of my big Summer Fitness/2012 lifestyle change. If you check out my calendar i had recently finished the 1st month and a week of recovery. I started month 2 then got a summer job as a receptionist at a hotel. I had trouble balancing shift times and it threw me a bit off.
Today is week 8 and as you can see from my calendar i've missed a total of 9 days. (halfway through week 6 and all of week 7)
I've planned a lot more in terms of knowing my shift times and knowing when to work out. Remember preparation and discipline are the key. There's absolutely no excuse and i feel more empowered than ever to get the last two weeks of INSANITY with Shaun T, before hitting Tony Horton with P90x come September.
Notes about INSANITY
duration: 9 weeks
1st Month: Gets you back into fitness training
Recovery week: Much needed break
2nd Month: (Only done 3 days so far) But my gosh.
Some next level **** on a previous level basis. Shaun T steps it up and this is where you really get the most out of it.
For those who are currently doing INSANITY, dig deeper! -
Re: Insanity Workout
Did it for about 3 weeks before exams/life got in the way. I hadn't done proper exercise for a couple of years before I started and I honestly didn't find it impossibly difficult. Yes, it's very, very hard but you can do it if you're unfit - the point is to just push and do as much as you can. I did enjoy it though, it's definitely the most enjoyable exercise video I've done.
