Help urgent! Lost theory test certificate! Its actually more than that...
So I booked my practical test which is tomorrow. The thing is that I had lost my theory test certificate in past but I called up dvla and they sent me replacement confirmation ( not the actual certificate) like 2 weeks ago....

So just few minutes before I just wanted to make sure that I have everything and I found out that my name and the provisional license number is spelt wrong (2 letter should be "o" but they typed "a") on the theory test confirmation letter....the certificate number and theory test/expiry date is right though....

My question is, will I be able to use just the certificate number and get away with this from the examiner.....? Or is he going to act like a moron and tell me to get out?

If you've got time phone up the DSA and ask. If it's an early test all you can do is take the letter along and hope. Of they're not happy about it calmly and politely ask them if they are able to query it.

I would expect you'll be ok, since it's obviously a mistake.

Thanks for reply, I called them up and they said it should be okay as you got your certificate number and expiry date correct...

When I took my test the woman didn't even ask for my certificate- She just asked for my prov. license. I think it was because when I booked online I had to put my test certificate number in to be able to get the test anyway. My instructor said he hasn't known any examiner who has asked to see the certificate so you might be lucky

My instructor said the same, They are meant to look at them but I think because people book them online and have to input the theory code they obviously know there is no point. It's a bit of a silly rule tbh

I lost my theory certificate and sat my test without it.

I rang up the test centre the morning of my test day just to be polite and warn them I didn't have it, and then they were find with it on the day.

To clarify, you should always bring your theory certificate along to your test. If there's a minor typo in your name or address, don't worry as it's the driver number that has to match. They'll know it's you.

The law states that the examiner must have evidence of a theory pass before the practical test can take place. "Evidence by other means" such as electronic notification from Pearson can be accepted. In 99% of cases, the examiner's daily journal will show this evidence, but where a check has been flagged up, the examiner must ask for the actual certificate. If the examiner is not provided with any proof of a theory pass, he must refuse the test. This is why examiners rarely ask for the theory, but it can happen. Usually, this is where a licence has previously been revoked.

I took my theory test confirmation letter and he didn't even ask to see it.

I passed with 7 minors. A future advice - don't book a test at 4.50pm, the traffic is hell
