How did you come to hold your political beliefs? POLL
I thought it might be interesting to see how people determine which political ideas they agree with.

    Instinct or hunch

I wanted to stand out from my family, watching the news and it went from there. Did research which hardened my beliefs.

    I went for random/other

Re: How did you come to hold your political beliefs? POLL
I started out with similar political beliefs to my parents, mainly due to proximity and time.

I then spent a lot of time reading news articles and blogs, this caused me to rethink my beliefs. Every now and then I'd realise "thats wrong" or "I don't believe that" and I would find an alternative. I now align myself with whichever political party I feel is most likely to implement those beliefs.

I studied Economics at Uni, resulting in leaning to the right in that sense... Also I really bloody love South Park, so I'm socially liberal, which I guess makes me a combination of "researching a few major political philosophies" and a "celebrity expressing their political opinions" (!)

I am a libertarian, since it simply makes the most sense to me. People cannot live without making choices in life, and that is the essence of freedom.

I studied economics, business, sociology, politics, philosophy, science, etc until I could formulate an informed opinion on a range of issues. I refuse to take anything for granted or on a hunch or gut feeling. If I don't feel I can rigorously defend an opinion, I simply say "I don't know".

Studied Economics and Politics at A-Level as well as independent research. Though my classes and teachers did have their own views they weren't particularly imposed on me.

Although my political views change every so often, I gained my current views from a mixture of my family and private research into different political ideologies.

What is economics? Would it help build my future as a gcse topic?

Political ideologies are as bad as organised religion is with respect to the free will of the atheist. How on earth you can just decide which political ideology you feel most comfortable with then go back to that if faced with a political problem is beyond me. I vote whichever way the data suggests is the best way. As everyone else should.

My parents never expressed Political beliefs until I did, and I developed my Political beliefs in college when studying the different parties and political ideologies before finding the right mix of beliefs that suited me.

None of the above. A combination of personal experiences, being involved in workplace and community struggles and reading history and politics books.

Economics is about how to allocate resources in a community. It will help you GCSEs, since it can help you in A-Levels and uni studies.

No option for 'I think about it myself, occasionally doing a bit of research about the general ideas of some ideologies, but no details'

My main influence was reading about the situation this county was in in the 1970s.

Glad to see no one's voted celebrity! Maybe there is some hope still left in the world.

most of my political opinions have come from studying economics, and maybe a small part of privately reading history
