Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic successThis. It's in French culture to big themselves up before competitions and then to find countless excuses if they don't live up to what they said they could do. The French are some of the least graceful winners and losers on the planet. Rub it in your face if they win and sulk if they lose.(Original post by Clip)
They're French. It's part of their culture. -

Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic successIndeed, I'm not upset, my family is not upset and my dad is as Patriotic about being French as one can be.(Original post by Bellissima)
actually been spending some time with a french couple this week and funnily enough i asked them whether something like this was happening in france yesterday, they said not at all, there is some, but most french people are not upset. wouldn't be surprised if it's just the media stirring it. -
Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic success
Turns out 70% of French who took a survery think team GB have cheated. So let's see, after the tour de France they accuse our riders of doping then they accuse us of breaking the rules at the olympics now they accuse us of using illegal equipment (which was actually made by the French!). It's just a never ending stream of accusations to try to explain our performance so they don't actually have to admit we have beaten them fair and square. I hope the French and Aussies like humble pie because it seems they have not eaten enough of it.

Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic successI guess that's true of all the drug accusations people were giving Yi Shiwen, but the French reasoning for thinking we cheated is a bit strange. The whole wheels accusation is grasping at straws a little.(Original post by jumpingjesusholycow)
It is a little laughable, but it doesn't strike me as particularly different to how we've been reacting to the Chinese.
Double standards eh? -
Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic successcameron rolled out the red carpet to english businessmen when the new french pm announced higher tax rates, guessing he's still a bit bitter lols(Original post by Miracle Day)

Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic successBeing German I can tell you that we care a lot less about the English than you do about us. This was even mentioned in the QI about Germany. I am sure the French feel the same way.(Original post by Casshern1456)
Well, we all know the French..
I think British people are a lot more competitive between nations than others. In particular you suffer from severe 'schadenfreude' at the misfortunes of others (of course in Germany we take that to a different level when Holland fails at football, but that's something else).
I don't understand why you aren't just happy at an amazing performance by your team at these home Olympics? So many people on here have expressed joy at Ireland's and Australia's failings... -
Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic successWe're not the ones that go round trying to get peoples credit rating downgraded.(Original post by danny111)

They seemed to care when they were beating us on the medal table.
I suppose since your attitude towards us is so similar we can be generous and count you together so that we're only beating you by 7 golds.Last edited by green.tea; 10-08-2012 at 21:13. -
Re: French 'sour grapes' over Team GB Olympic successWhat does this have to do with the Olympics? Just WTF?(Original post by green.tea)

No my attitude towards you is that many of you are so arrogant about your current success, and that is a real shame. Many athletes worked their ass off and you repay them by using them to laugh at other countries.
Think about that.
ps German TV actually wished Britain good luck after they reported stories from British media complaining about lack of gold at the start of the Olympics. -
