Getting weights off ebay. Are these good?
    As per title:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Golds-Gym-...#ht_500wt_1128

Thinking of getting above. Plan is to hang two of these onto a dipping belt and do pullups with them. Are these good anyone know? Can they be gripped with the handle to work on shoulder exercises too?

Alternatively Argos have 10kg York weights. I like the above because of the gap at the edge makes it easier to tie a chain off. Any advice much appreciated

    Thanks!

I have similar plates (tri-grip Olympic) and I can't imagine doing any db work but with the plates. The grip is just too weird. If you're happy with 10kg increments then they will work fine, if not then you can get a cheap set from Argos like you said and progression will be easier.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with home gym equipment because you're going to outgrow it fairly fast if you're training properly and may as well just pay that money for gym membership.

If you do want to buy them however, I'd use this website and if it's 10kg plates you want I'd say this is the best offer,

Also bare in mind that there's different sized bars, I'd personally use the olympic weights, but as long as you keep them all the same if you want to increase the amount of plates / bars you have.

Hi Thanks for this link, deffo a better offer! I wanted to get two anyway so this is perfect! Two more questions. Can one grip this with their hand? Is it wide enough to do this? 2nd, have you bought from them before? Are they reputable?

    Thanks

Those are the ones I have. They are perfectly reputable and the right width to grip with your hand, though as I said it feels weird since it's hard to keep a proper centre of gravity. That will be the case with all plates though, db handles will be much better.

Looks fine but £2.39/kg is expensive. Have you considered buying used/second hand?

Sorry I've been out all day. Yeah I've bought a few smaller things from them they're fine and well known. As far as I can tell they should be easy to grip and should be wide enough, you're welcome hopefully saved you some time / money
