Did you feel ready for your test?
My driving test (first attempt) is on the 24th and I seem to jump between feeling ready and totally unprepared. My instructor seems fairly happy, but I still have moments where I do something ridiculously stupid sometimes and I'm worried I'll do this on test!
Did you feel ready for your test? And did you pass? -
Re: Did you feel ready for your test?
I'm a very nervous driver so I never felt ready for my test, but after two years of driving lessons my instructor was just like, 'get on with it or you'll never do it' lol. I passed on my second test, my first one I was so nervous my leg wouldn't stop shaking it was horrible. My second test (which I passed) I was a little more prepared for as I knew what was coming so I was more calm.
Good luck for your test! x -
Re: Did you feel ready for your test?
My first test is tomorrow morning, and after two years of lessons I still don't feel anywhere near ready. I still make so many silly little mistakes due to lack of confidence and panic...I know if I get an unusual situation in my test to deal with, I'll probably panic and fail in an instant. I'm so nervous I haven't eaten or slept properly in days.

(Talking about unusual situations, a bee landed on my leg during my driving lesson yesterday...right as I approached an island where somebody had crashed and I needed to navigate around them. It didn't end well, I'm so glad I wasn't on test

Re: Did you feel ready for your test?
I did indeed. I've always enjoyed driving and was a confident driver, which definitely helped. As a result, I wasn't nervous at all - I just thought to myself, "I can drive, this'll be a piece of cake" - and it was.
If I had been nervous it would have been a different story as the two things I hate came up in the test - a horrendous four-lane roundabout joining dual carriageways, and the reverse round a corner manoeuvre. Easy to fluff up if you're shaking with nerves but I just got on with it. -
Re: Did you feel ready for your test?About 35 I think... plus a few weeks of driving with my dad. I was a slow learner. I should be fine, hopefully.(Original post by iceman95)

I guess this goes to show, even if you don't feel ready it all, it's worth going for it if your instructor thinks you're ready. -
Re: Did you feel ready for your test?
I felt ok when I did my first one though I am a nervous person so was terrified which was made worse when I found out that I had the chief examiner who rarely passes anyone. I'd only been learning for 3 months. I made stupid little mistakes that I shouldn't have so I failed but I have my second one in a couple of weeks! My instructor is now coming up with entertaining ways to get me to use my mirrors more, including a picture of Jake Gyllenhaal stuck to a mirror and charging me for every time I forget to use a mirror(he doesn't actually make me pay but I'm competitive and money conscious so it works.) Anyway, Good luck

Re: Did you feel ready for your test?
I'm doing mine sometime towards the end of the month (haven't booked it yet, but there's never a huge wait time). I'm not worried, because my instructor wouldn't let me do the test if I wasn't ready to do it.
Nearer the time I'll probably get a bit worried but for now, no. -
Re: Did you feel ready for your test?
First one? No. I knew I could drive safely, and I was quite confident, but I was still making stupid mistakes and getting dual-controlled by my instructor. Now I know that it was nerves, but I still felt like every time I drove I was just fumbling through everything.
Second one? Yeah I felt ready, but just. I felt more ready to drive on my own than for my test though :P
Third one? I felt way, way overdue. I felt like I should have been driving months ago, and I wasn't getting taught in lessons any more - it was just chats with my instructor whilst I drove around. I was so bored all the time and just wanted to get it over with.
