Are EU students eligible for NHS bursary? What about the maintenance loan?
Hello.
Are EU students living in England for 2 years before the nursing course starts eligible for the NHS bursary for living costs and the NHS grant of 1000 quid? What about maintenance loan? I know for a fact that I am entitled to have my fees paid but it has been difficult to find information about the bursary, grant and loan. I have a direct relative living here for 10 years.
Cheers. -

Re: Are EU students eligible for NHS bursary? What about the maintenance loan? You will only be eligible to have your fees paid. You won't get the bursary, grant or loan unless you have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of your course.(Original post by ilovelabradors)

But can I have a loan to help with living costs? -
Re: Are EU students eligible for NHS bursary? What about the maintenance loan? No, you have to have been living in the UK specifically for the last three years. And EU students don't get maintenance loans, unfortunately(Original post by ilovelabradors)

Re: Are EU students eligible for NHS bursary? What about the maintenance loan?
But I am working here. So am I a migrant worker?
Migrant workers
EEA and Swiss migrant workers
You may qualify for help with tuition fees and additional help if all of the following apply:
you’re a national from an EEA country or Switzerland
you’re working in the UK
you’ve lived in the EEA or Switzerland for three years or more before your course starts
you’ll be living in the UK on the first day of the academic year in which your course starts
your course qualifies
You may also qualify if you’re a family member of an EEA or Swiss migrant worker. -

Possibly, but you'd have to ask someone who'd been in your shoes. Sorry

Re: Are EU students eligible for NHS bursary? What about the maintenance loan?
Hello,
I am in the same dillema but i have lived here for 6 years and was under the age of 18 when i moved to the uk. What you need to do is call student finance from the eu team on 141 243 3570 and tell them your situation
they may be able to help you. What i would do in your shoes though is apply to a uni that is near you as a back up in case it turns out you are not allowed a maintance loan so you are able to afford it. thats what i am doing because im not sure if i get one :|.
hope this was helpful
