Left college twice but still want a degree
Ok, i dropped out of college twice

first reason was the college was not for me studying A levels, so i decided to go to a community college because they said "it is a more hands on approach to learning than A levels" so i thought that sounds a lot better for me, until i got to 4 months in the course and realised all we did was sit at a desk everyday filling out paperwork, i was there for around half a year achieving A's i just found it not challenging at all, and the tutors were awful as you could get.

i would still like to get a degree one day, but i just can't do college, i find it childish, lack of skills from tutors and lack of trust from tutors to students.

this may make me sound a bit big headed but i assure you i am for from big headed.

another reason i left was because i thought the course i picked would help me become a screenwriter, and soon found out it didnt, so i really couldn't stay there, every time i went in my head felt like melting from the awful teaching.

but like i say i would still like to get a degree one day, but i doubt colleges would accept me for leaving twice (and rightly so) even if i say that i didn't feel challenged enough in the highest class the course offered.

is there anyway to get to university without having to go through 2 years of mindless drivel.

I'm a bit confused as to how you think you could be a screenwriter, or how a degree would help you do that...

i know you dont need a degree to be a screenwriter but becoming one is hard, and having a degree could help me get a job while i try and become a screenwriter

What subjects were you taking? Perhaps if it isn't challenging enough for you! Take the more respected subjects - or more of them - like english, maths, chemistry, physics and french!

They will keep you very busy!

Also, there isn't a way (that I know of) to get into uni without level 3 qualifications e.g. A Levels/International Baccalaureate.

I think you're just gunna have to stick it out I'm afraid.

Alternatively to college over 2 years, take the subjects in one year or independently. That way, you will either have lot's of work to do all of the time if you do the former or will be able to do the study when it suites you if you decide to do the latter.

My advice would be to do what everyone else does and just stick it out. There's a reason we all do it.

doubt i will go then, college is utter terrible, school was more mature, unless i know what i want to study, because you cant study screen writing.

I presume you will need qualifications all the same to get into screen-writing unless your a child progidy, which I doubt considering the nature of the thread.
Well, english would seem like a sensible subject choice. Then after that, perhaps pick other facilitating subjects such as sciences, maths and modern foreign languages and humanities.

If I were going into script-writing I would probably take up english lit, english language maths and chemistry or something like that! Maybe throw french in there if I were feeling particularly bored. It gives you the stuff you need along with facilitating subjects in case you can't/don't want to get into screen-writing.

Yes, college sucks but not being able to cope with immaturity, ironically, is a sign of immaturity.

Nevertheless you are basing your whole future on this one thing and tbh, if it fails, you are gunna be stuck. I would advise doing something just to keep your bases covered.

Well obviously you don't seem dedicated... your attitude from reading this is a failure -'doubt i will go then, college is utter terrible, school was more mature'
If you want to achieve your dream of being a screenwriter, then you have to get through the obstacles which will lead you your pathway to success.
There are so many people out there that have been in situations like you, but have worked tremendously hard because they wanted to achieve their ambition, including me!
I was exactly like you when I left school, I went to study my AS's and then left without studying the A2 section. I hated college, I had such a defeatist and negative attitude about education but I really wanted to achieve my dream. Afterwards, I gained lots of voluntary work experience and worked 35 hours a week whilst studying a CertHE with the Open University. Two years later gained a place at Cardiff University.
If you want to achieve your ambition of being a screenwriter, stick it out at college... It's the best way.

    .
incorrect, i dont have a UK level 3 and i got accepted but i DO have level 4 qualifications and alot of training

OP i get where your coming from, i found college unchallenged half the time and hated being talked down to by teachers who only teacher because they failed at what they actually wanted to do and i was also abused verbally bullied by tutors and was told to take it to court by external training experts (but dont want the hastle)

but your attitude on this is applauding, if you dont like college then study home courses or go study university certificates but dont act like the world owes you, I now have an offer to uni and although i left college after 3 months ive worked hard to build up enough to get that offer

I figured there would be something which is why I made sure to add 'that I know of'. However, considering his attitude towards study I think this would be a bad choice for the OP. It seems, from what I have gathered, the OP needs discipline in terms of learning structure which would probably make a levels a more sensible choice, no?

    Thanks for correcting me anyhow

Would just like to point out to you that my attitude towards college of course is bad, when you are being treated like pure scum 7 hours a day, "we will treat you as an adult" one of the promises said on induction, being treated like a human being would of been nice,

being forced to do things that other students have to do, being told to go to places 6 miles away (walking) to help a group, when i had work to do myself, when there are dozens of other students within a mile of them, who could of helped.

now i don't mind going back to college but after being treated like pure **** i am of course hesitant.

Now about this saying that the world owes me something, I know that i need to work hard to get where i want, i haven't said that i deserve it more than anyone else.
