For anyone who has stayed at Unite
Does anyone know if it is possible do buy another key fob from Unite? I was hoping I could get another one so I don't have to go downstairs every time my boyfriend wants to come over. I understand they might have security issues, I was just wondering if anyone has ever got another one for a partner/family/friend before?

    Thanks

I've never bought another one but they would have any security issues then you could always just tell them you lost your key fob and buy another which you can give to your boyfriend.

But then they would usually deactivate the one you said you'd lost.

Ok, I had an idea...pretend I lost my key, get a new one and that one will work for the kitchen area and block of flats...just not my individual flat...anyone think that will work? :P

I hate unite, they're the worst student accommodation company in the world.

But just say you've lost your fob and then give it to your boyfriend however if your boyfriend is found out to have it without being a resident he might get banned.

    BTW: The fobs cost £35

haha, I really like Unite, I've lived there for 2 years with no problem Hmm, ok, i'll have to make sure no one notices him using it.

Pretty sure they're £20 where I live too. I think I must be lucky, Unite seems to change how good it is depending on where they are.

How can you possibly like UNITE? They are awful, where I am living (London) a lost key costs £40, the rent is about £300 a week. They just rip people off and the quality of rooms is poor and provide no assistance to people with dissabilities. They are a joke and they event took away all my rent in one go even though I was paying monthly according to my bank statements. The fire alarms are very sensitive, but it was quite good that I woke everyone up at 7am on a weekday morning when I was cleaning my room before going to work, it taught the people making huge amounts of noise at midnight a lesson (which they are allowed to do and security makes a large amount of noise when someone left a shoe in the corridor as if it was a bomb). UNITE are here solely to rip people off and no company has ever angered me in this way before and shows much better regulation for student accomadation is needed.

    Key fobs?

I stayed in Emily Bowes for a week or two this summer and we used keycards

    Hi Aura3107,

My names Frankie, I work for UNITE, I noticed this thread and thought a response might be helpful.

Because we want to ensure the building is as safe and secure as it possibly can be, we can only allocate one key fob per room I’m afraid, this means that visitors can only access the flats with a UNITE resident.

When your boyfriend pops round you’ll need to come down to let him in because as your guest you are responsible for him whilst he’s in the building.

If you report a key fob lost or stolen they are automatically blocked to make sure your security isn’t risked so you wouldn’t be able to continue using the original.

I hope this helps and you understand the reasons why we can’t issue multiple fobs.

    Frankie
