When to take a student loan out
At what time during the year do i need to apply for a student loan and what are the best places to apply to one i am hoping to study at Glasgow university which would involve moving a good 5/6 hours away from home. with £9,000 a year fees for the course and more for books and accommodation and living arrangements how and when do i need to apply for a loan i know i have to apply to the university's anytime after the 1st September 2012 and 15th October 2012 for my course and because it's 5 years it will be around £90,000 at the end of university so would i need to take one out each year for a set amount or would i take out a £90,000 loan out at once?

Re: When to take a student loan out
Unless I have missed the point entirely.
You can take a loan out through student finance (assuming you are a uk resident) this will cover your tution fees and provide a means tested maintenance sum that is part grant part loan.

This is the english site but the scotting equivalent should be just a google search away.
Enjoy filling out the paperwork, the online system is crap.
The applications dont open for a while yet though so dont panic, they will close pretty much end of may next year

Yep, you always apply to the country you're from, not the one you're going to. There are different ones for Wales, Scotland, England and I presume Northern Ireland has one too though not sure?(Original post by Emmi95)
does this apply even though i am hoping to go to Glasgow university in Scotland ?
